Been thinking about tinting the canopy with 5%. I am always worried about people breaking a window to grab stuff. Currently keep a blanket over everything. Tint won't stop anyone, but might make it a bit less appealing.

If you sleep in your bed I would look into putting that old school limo tint in so you can look out but they can’t see in. Hehehe

I will have a canopy soon and have been thinking about the same concern. Was looking into a locking bin that I can secure in the bed. Just don’t want to pay $400 for a pelican or roam adventure box.

I think most thieves are opportunistic. Out of sight, out of mind. Would still be nice to have things locked in a case inside the shell.

For sure. I overthink it too. The other benefit is that everything stays dry.
I mean realistically, I could get an $8 bin from Costco that will hold everything I need and run a bike lock into it. Secure and dry. But that isn’t TW cool.

In that case, I need you to help me overthink a decision as well. Diamondback HD cover.
Should I get the diamond plate sheet metal or the smooth? Both have black texture coating. What do you guys think?

I'm leaning one way. Just curious what popular opinion is.

I like the smooth but I’m also just not a fan of diamond plate in general so I’m alittle biased.

Definitely go with the diamond plate.

Are you looking for social acceptance before you pull the trigger? o_O

I would imagine that the fit and quality would be the same from the same manufacture.

Get the consensus from the masses, and then buy the opposite so that you are unique.

Can’t help when saws are mentioned. I fancy myself a fairly handy sawyer (smoked of course by anyone making a living doing such). Rocked the Silky Big Boy for three years with the USFS, of course during logout the chainsaws were employed, but that saw can take care of massive, massive logs. First season as a wilderness ranger checking the Chelan-Sawtooth for blowdown to report to the trail crews I was shocked to find but one tree that merited a crew. The thought of going back to tell them to send more people to come back seemed ridiculous. Couple hours with a silky and it was gone. It’s still there, saw it this summer ;)

Had a Husqy 445 I used for cutting firewood in Colorado and just kept in the truck, sold it before I moved back, my new Rancher 455 arrives Thursday. Saving the parents some money taking care of the tree work they need after the storm. Not a small saw, but honestly anything 10-12” or smaller the Silky can handle with aplomb. Rather have a saw that can take care of big stuff. Duh don’t push it (zee Silky), you’ll break the blade, and check for compression and tension so your saw (gas, electric or otherwise) doesn’t end up permanently decorating the log you’re trying to remove.

Best saw is the one you have :)
