Anyone remember the Russian Snorkel.... well the saga continues... I have more parts coming, and this snorkel was ordered in August 2020. :) Its February 2021 and I'm still trying to source parts to make er' fit. Taking a chance on Dobinsons to help me out with this. Initially they said no but after a little begging, pleading and groveling they decided to help me out. I'm just hoping the hose actually fits. Its a good company Dobinsons....:) My goal it to get this all wrapped up by August 2021, that gives me 6 months. :turtleride: and the world record for slowest snorkel install , yeaaaaaa......

Saving money is not all its cracked up to be.
step 1. believe you can't afford it when you actually can
step 2. don't do research because your blinded by "an awesome" price
step 3. involves a) regret b) anger c) laughing at your decisions d) telling others about what you did so they don't do it too
    e) making the best of it and writing it off as a life experience you will not make again
    f) making the same "saving money"decision again a short time later...... and repeat

Its all good part of the Overlanding Experience...

I have not 1 complaint about my Dobinsons Snorkel. It has lasted great so far, I have seen some pretty big 'branches' smash that thing.

Only 1 of the little Honey Combs are broken on the edge of the plastic intake cover, that is the only damage it has from the abuse I have given it.

My take on this is, if I was always to buy the best or the best for the quality, I would never have been able to have so many things and do so many things.
I have had bad experiences with known expensive stuff too. Sure, less frequently.

Buy the Cheapest of the cheapest I see as being the most risky, and bound to back fire, unless it's something I might just use once, and be ok with just one use and buy again.

The other take is that, in my case I might end spending more in the long term, but I didn't have to wait 3 years to buy a warn winch and all the fancy armor. I can just start enjoying now and pay extra later.

Comes down to time, money and your abilities.

mid you have no time and little abilities you better have a lot of money. Little money, you better make time and improve your abilities. If you have money, no time but have the abilities, you are stuck spending money.

there is a lot of hype over “names” and brands.

Just get out and have fun, and make sure as a group you are covered.

Also, just a reminder of this event

    None - yet
Toyota Canada is going to have the kits, problem is parts not sold separate. comes with shocks, blocks, grille and a couple other pieces at a tune of $1830.00 plus tax.
Currently you can only order for 2020/21 and have to supply a VIN number to order.

Very important. What one does not have, the other one may have to cover the situation.

Wife and I went snow wheeling in the CR-V, looked at a lot we are interested in.

I was surprised how much snow is around everywhere!

easy enough to make a tab that brings it forward, but in general i might just ditch the ditch lights all together. Picked up the mounts themselves off of Amazon for like $25 or so was cheap enough for me to see if it's worth spending the money on such a thing. It has it's uses but i'm not terribly fond of it for the time being.
the 40" bar in the back, however, i found very useful.

I'll be relocating the ditch spot/floods into the grille

on paper, the Ridgeline is the best truck on the market.
it's perfectly design for 90% of people who use a truck as a tailgating service and not hauling work tools and construction materials around all day. It's perfect for people who want a truck for non-truck reasons.
