After delaying navigational rally couple times, things had to be changed and now this is a nice scenic navigational drive + meet & greet at the end of the drive!

This is a single day event that covers 130 kilometers of different terrain across Southern Ontario. A competitive journey that rewards consistency, reliability and good judgement.

By participating in this event you agree not to hold the organizers or associated volunteers liable for any incidents, accidents, injuries or death. We respectfully remind everyone to please drive safely and be courteous to other road users. We recommend that you run with all lights on and use hazard lights when stopping. Do not trespass on private property. The route is designed to be on public roads only, you must obey all speed limits and local traffic laws. You must have licensed roadworthy car, hold valid driver's license and have valid vehicle insurance. Please have easy accessible tow points. It is also recommended to have equipment for minor repairs. Bring suitable clothing for the event or in the event of break down. Winter tires highly recommended. Due to COVID we ask to practice social distancing as much as possible and wear personal protective equipment, yada, yada, yada... You know the drill!

2019 year for reference: TEC || Navigational Rally, Caledon, ON. | Tacoma World

How to participate in the event
    • Your vehicle must be road legal and licensed in compliance with regulations of state or country of registration.
    • Stock friendly, it can be done in a beige Corolla.
    • Good all season or winter tires, non studded.
    • Two way/CB/HAM radio that receives and transmits, use channel 9 for emergency use only.
    • Vehicle must have OEM seat belts for every passenger inside
    • Tow strap, soft shackle/bow shackle, ABC fire extinguisher and highway flares or DOT triangle recommended.
    • No fuel cans allowed inside the vehicle. Fuel must be stored in certified containers only.
    • Heavy loose items must be placed in the trunk and/or bed tied securely to hold position in the event of an accident.
    • Some form of a device to read digital instructions, smartphone with large screen, tablet or laptop.
    • Snacks and beverage, avoid unnecessary stops - follow COVID restrictions.
    • Full size spare tire.
On the day of the event
    • At 07:00 on February 27th, you are going to receive route instructions for the day.
    • Fill up with fuel, check fluids and tire pressure, clean windows and lights.
    • Bring co-pilot with you, important! You can do it solo, but it'll be harder to follow directions and drive at the same time. Make your co-pilot comfortable, he/she is your eyes for the next few hours!
    • Arrive at the start point no later than 10AM -> start point is here 44.361643, -81.547188
    • Meet with organizers and follow instructions.
    • Depart at given start time.
    • Have fun, drive safe & enjoy the scenic views! Don't forget to keep your eyes on the directions!

    THE ODOMETER CHECK
The purpose of this is to see how far off your odometer is from the mileage on your instructions. Once you know this you have to adjust the route mileage by your correction factor. Here is how to perform odometer check:

    1. Zero your trip meter at the beginning of the first section.
    2. Drive to the end of the odometer check.
    3. When you get to the official mileage at that point, calculate the factor using following formula:

Factor = (your car’s mileage) divided by (the Official Mileage)

Step 4. Multiply all distances written in your route instructions by the "Factor".

Example: Your trip meter says 5.13 kms and the route instructions Official Mileage says it should be 4.88 kms.

    Factor = 1.05122951 = 5.13 / 4.88

Use just the first two significant figures for this event (1.05).
Now when an instruction says turn left at 60.89 kms your trip meter would say 63.94 kms.
Your navigator can quickly go through the mileages and adjust based on the Factor value.

    TIME

You will be asked to start timer/stop watch at certain location and continue it running till the end of the rally and stop upon arrival of the destination.

The following times will be collected after to compare to official time and to choose the winner of the event!

    READY? SET? GO!

See you everyone at the start, 10AM -> start point is here 44.361643, -81.547188

Me and my team of voluntolds did pre-run last weekend and doing it again this weekend, it'll require couple voluntolds to do it the "fun" way, so got to get it all ready.

    Date is Saturday January 30th.

I thought that was Ardbeg when you first posted that in the BS chat:rofl:

hmm i'm all game to do this but would need a passenger for navigation. would give me a month to find one (realistically a sing day since they'll most likely bail last second)
