Is there a way to lower my seat?

As a fellow tall guy in a Tacoma, I used to feel like I needed to do yoga when I would stop for gas on long trips.

I looked into pushing the seat back with plates, spacers, aftermarket rails, seat replacements, etcetera. I wasn't super comfortable with any of the solutions I came up with for various reasons.

I actually found that putting some Seat Jackers ( https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...s-lifts-the-front-of-the-seat-3rd-gen.607482/ ) under the fronts made a HUGE difference for me in terms of comfort. It doesn't push the seat back, but it does alter the geometry just enough that my legs are much better supported and I'm much more comfortable in the truck for extended drives.

I dont think it's so much the geometry of the seat as it is the fact that I have to angle my feet/legs a weird way to gas and brake because the steering wheel is hitting my legs or I can't put my legs together to switch from gas and brake if that makes any sense?

Not really irritating just stupid solutions! Me selling a perfectly working reliable truck with low miles to buy a big truck with a payment just because the seat doesn't go back far enough or low enough is just dumb! It's as stupid as saying I should buy a new house because the water heater doesn't work and rather than fixing the problem I should just buy another one ( obviously this is very dramatic, but just as stupid imo). I was just hoping that someone has had my problem and maybe did something about it and could share their info and pictures with me. I haven't given up yet lol. I think my option is going to be to figure out a safe way to move the actual seat rearward!

We’re not all one size, nor the same proportion limb length. Sometimes a mod can be done to improve the arrangement but sometimes not. I didn’t buy a taco until they solved that issue for my needs. For all of its short comings the Ranger Supercab had enough travel to put the pedals out of reach and no wheel well where my left foot belonged. If they hadn’t discontinued them I’d likely still have one since they kept the same bed size allowing me to keep the same lumber rack and shell for 2 models and 28 years. There are things that aren’t immediately apparent when you acquire a vehicle. Sometimes you can adapt, sometimes you can mod, and sometimes you have to move on. Sometimes the shoes break in and other times it’s nothing but blisters. There’s a lot to be said for “move in ready” but it can be very satisfying to have something customized just for you.

You should definitely research and exhaust your options, just as you are doing. But there is a point where it is too difficult and costly to change something to be worthwhile. That part is up to you. No one can tell you what it's worth to you except you. Your house comparison is a flawed argument. By the same logic you should modify your perfectly good child's bike to ride as an adult. No one is trying to be mean, and it's totally your choice if it works for you to modify it, financially and otherwise.

I'd still recommend my previous suggestion which is to unbolt your seat and mock it up to be further back to test the seating position and your line of sight and armrests and base your decision to invest on a basically free test.

Man, I'm having a difficult time visualizing your problem. I am 6'3", north of 250lbs. My seat is NOT all the way back. I did install a 1" spacer to raise the rear of the seat and change the seating angle. But I have NO steering wheel interference. My head doesn't bump against the roof. I can move my feet around etc etc. and my legs don't touch the steering wheel unless I (un-naturally) left foot brake, but it's not uncomfortable. During a long trip, left foot on the foot rest, my left knee rests against the door panel, right foot on the gas, steering wheel in between the knees, plenty of room.Left.jpg Right.jpg

x2, and probably x every Tacoma Owner, ever. I even bought a padded mouse pad to stick to the door for my leg to rest against, and i'm only 5'-11". I have to move the seat forward because I recline the seat a bit to help with my bad back, and then my arms are too short for the steering wheel :D. My 5'-11" knees end up right where your 6'-3" knees are.
I want to see OP copy your pic. Maybe he has Earl Campbell legs...

You know that the telescoping steering wheel adjusts in and out AND up and down, right? Not trying to beat a dead horse, just trying to help by covering all the bases. It doesn't adjust very far, but you never know.

Once you post a pic of your leg position relative to the steering wheel like @jbrnigan did, you will probably have the answer quickly.

Thank you. I saw that, but wasn't sure he realized it adjusts in two planes. One could easily pull on the steering wheel to extend it without lifting up, and not know.

I thinks you might be S.O.L.......I'm thinking that even if you could move the seat back another 2", in order to comfortably reach the steering wheel, the seatback would need to be very uncomfortably upright. Driving with out stretched arms gets very tiresome after an hour or so...or, just learn to adapt.
    Good luck

He obviously has long legs so he might have long arms too. Given a few more inches to the stops he might not choose to use all of it. When your knees are only slightly bent they drop more when the seat goes back than they do when the angle is greater. Also if the seat rails move back only an inch or so they no longer sit on top of the feet and will drop ~1/8”. Doesn’t seem like much but would translate to more at the knees.

Billy just unbolt your seat and try it out! Lol. Then once you know you like it call around to some fab shops in town and see who can make it happen for you.
