Checked that out over the weekend. Neither the elbow or the hose collapse at all at WoT. The hose has a pretty strong wire in it that prevents it...the elbow is much softer than the hose and still does not collapse.

Did another major mod this weekend. Added the JdFab steering slide rack to the front end. If your not familiar with it go here to read up on it. But it strengthens up the tacoma rack and pinion to keep it from blowing up on you. Big thanks goes out to @Yotamac from Tacomapros for coming out and welding it all up for me. If your in need for any welding or installations on tacoma he's the one to call. This kit is not on the JdFab website...ya gotta call and ask for it. Big reason why is you absolutely gotta know what you are doing here because it deals with your steering and could kill you if you if done improperly. The process involves trimming off about an inch from the left side of the steering rack itself and install new seals on both ends of the rack. There is shimming involved to make sure the slide rack itself moves freely with the steering rack. What you need is all included in the kit....except for the knowledge and know how to do it. If you are not comfortable thinking on your own I'd highly suggest you let JdFab @81Trekker or another experienced fabricator do the work. Its will be money well spent for that peace of mind. Onto the install....

Gotta make a big cut to the front cross member
    [IMG]

Next is to install/weld all the gussets provided in the JDfab kit.

Install the steering rack and the JdFab slide

Bolt up the tie rod attachments to the steering rack and slide rack...use red loctite...its provided in the kit from JdFab

You will Probably need an alignment....I did it myself in the garage...steering wheel is straight and it drives straight...its good enough

Really want this, and eventually will likely need this with my 35s. Curious how many hours of labor goes into the install? I'm not an experienced welder, so I'd have to pay someone. I welded my CMC, but don't have the skills past that.

Have you driven it enough to see if you can feel a difference in the steering? I'm curious how much it changes it. What did the rack add on cost? I'll be purchasing the LCA pivots soon.

This isn’t a mod that you’re going to feel the difference. If the steering feels harder you’ve done something wrong on the install. But it feels normal for me right now.
I got a new oem rack for about 540 bucks delivered from McGeorge Toyota. If your current rack is still good you can use that though. If you’re referring to the JDFab slide rack you’ll have to call them because cost depends on what you need. I did not need steering tie rods so my cost was reduced because of that.

Gotcha. Reading through the original JD thread I thought I read something about it being a little more solid.

I can only account for my hours really But I did it over 3 days because i'm old and lazy. But day 1 I probably spent 6 hours taking the rack out and cutting it up. Day 2 took about 4 hours welding in the gussets then putting the rack in to fit check/shim it before you weld in the lower mounts on the slide. Day 3 I probably spent another 3 hours installing the tie rod brackets and tie rods, wheels and doing my own alignment.
But remember I am 2 wheel drive and dont have a front diff to contend with. If you are 4wd the diff has to come out to do this install....otherwise I dont think you will be able to fully weld it up. Maybe a 4wd owner could chime in about this though. I know @Yotamac will be welding up a 4wd truck soon...and he said hes going to tell the dude to remove the diff.

It feels way more solid when you add the TC pump as all the feedback is eliminated in the steering wheel

LT kit is installed. Fox shocks are temporary until my King coilovers and bypasses are delivered. I just did a rebuild on them and they’ll be up for sale when the Kings arrive. Will be bumping and strapping it this coming weekend. JDFab killed it with this kit, it’s the final piece for my front that includes their LCA tab pivot kit, spindle gusset/double shear steering knuckle kit and slide rack. All 4 of these make for an almost bulletproof front end.

did you order freebleeds with the coilovers? looking better but it's missing front shock hoops and gussetted shock towers.
