    I have mods
Total fallacy that has been spread by RST trying to get people to spend more money when they do the FJ tcase swap.

    This is the correct answer.

Here’s my diff after pulling the ADD stub out. This is a 2015 4Runner front diff and from what I can tell it is the same as a Tacoma front diff. Do I need to remove the metal retainer as well or can I just bolt the non ADD shaft/tube to the diff? It looks like it is just pressed on there. Is this an oil baffle that was added on the 5th gen 4Runner diff?

I wrote a bit about this in my ARB install DIY. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-arb-air-locker-diy-install-thread.692979/

As long as the non-ADD part fits without contacting this, and I assume it should as now it's just a straight shaft, you can leave it in. It's a retainer deflector that possibly stops over travel of the ADD clutch sleeve and also has tabs to deflect oil from getting into the breather.

Thanks for the information! I’ll do a quick dry fit before I do final assembly with sealant.

Shouldn't you be swapping out that roller bearing for the ECGS (sleeve bearing)?? while its right there in front of you!??!

Already did that, the ECGS bushing is on the drivers side.

That's not the problem one because it carries the intermediate shaft and not the end of the heavy, dangling cv like on the driver's side. Having said that it's the same bearing so the bushing would fit. If you swap to an ARB there's bushings on both sides of the carrier, no bearings. But that one is just fine.

You shouldn't have to mess with any wires doing this mod.

Add delete complete in the front diff wiring tied up , transfer case in , all that’s left is to let silicone sit over night and fill diff , t case and trans .
