Transmission Fluid change?

Hey guys i was doing a drain and refill and I was unable to locate the fill plug. I've been searching for hours with no results. Also, it is worth noting my pan has no overflow bolt (any idea where this would be located?) I am very lost as to where these are as no threads or youtube videos have been any help.

Also worth noting i have a 2013 4x4 2.7 4 cylinder

you can fill the 2.7 Auto through the dipstick tube

 

Am i missing something? i thought these trucks didn't have a dipstick?

 

I have searched all around google and TW but all the results differ from what I am looking at under my truck

 

If it has a drain plug, there is a way to refill it. If you are looking under the truck you should be able to see something coming out of the transmission somewhere, use a flashlight and look carefully. If not, look under the hood for a cap or spout with a red or orange cap, then trace it to the end to be sure it's for the transmission. Good luck.

 

the 5spd auto behind the v6 does not. The 4 speed a340e/a340f behind the 05-15 4cylinder does have a dip stick

 

owners manual does not indicate a dipstick for the tranny fluid.

 

Check on the passenger side of the motor in the engine bay. Should be a dipstick somewhere over there..

 

Are you sure youre not talking about 1st gen tacomas? after a quick google search it said the dipsticks were taken out after 2005 for the 2nd gens

 

Definitely no dipstick for the A750F transmissions mated to the V6.

Like earlier stated, with the 4cylinder and the A340 transmission (same as early tundra, 1st gen Tacos), it has a dipstick.

 

Yes i am sure theres a dipstick on the 4 cyl auto 2nd gen

 

Check the passenger side there is a 15/16 nut marked ws

 

OP check on the drivers side, by the firewall and the master cylinder.

 

Thank you for the help. After looking harder under the hood under every cranny, I finally found the red handle. Hopefully this is a sign to start looking more at the truck and not at the internet. Sorry for the ignorance

 

You have the 340H or 340F transmission. It takes Type T-IV fluid, not WS fluid.

 

Do you have a manual or automatic? Your post does not say.

If you have an automatic, info follows. If you have a manual, there is no dipstick and a totally different procedure.

There is a drain plug on the pan.

There is a dipstick that others with a v6 or '16+ models envy.

Drain the pan. Replace the drain plug.

Refill using a clean funnel via the dipstick tube, using Toyota Type IV compatible trans fluid.

If the vehicle is high miles, if the fluid is brownish instead of pink, if the fluid smells pungent compared to the new fluid, drive it a 1000 miles or so and repeat the drain / fill cycle.

Yes, opening the hood is a valuable experience.

Whoever invents a dipstick retrofit kit for the autos w/o a dipstick at a reasonable price will be a rich person.
