    Hello!
I just bought a 2006 Tacoma with 185k miles on it and drove it about 3 hours home. I’ve had it for about a week now and I hear a sloshing noise almost like water flushing into a pipe when I turn my taco on and start driving. I hear it fir about 15 mins and then it basically go away aside from a few drips.

some people have said low coolant or coolant leak or I need to burp the system. I’m just really looking forward a solid answer for this problem so I know how to get it fixed.
    Thank you!

How is the coolant level IN THE RADIATOR?
Do you have good HOT heat coming from the dash vents?
And where is the Temperature Gauge reading when the truck is warm?

Level is at the radiator neck, right next to the cap

I get good heat and the temp on the truck is the same. Drove it in the city for about 45 mins to see if the temp level would change and it stayed the same.

That’s good. I had to ask since you have an 06’

Anyways, I have heard a similar noise every once in a while in my truck.
It always seems to be in the summer, and usually when the AC is on.
Never have figured out what it is, no leaks or anything.
My A/C drain line is open, so it’s not that.

I guess you could turn the A/C on and see if any water drips out from under the truck?

Other than that, I don’t know what else to look for.
    it might be Normal?

Possible air in the coolant? Try purging it, or flushing it and refilling. This happened in my old bmw, and it was from air pockets in the lines.

e thing is I hear it everyday so I’m wondering if it’s air in the system. I’m gonna burp it tomorrow. If that doesn’t work then I’m gonna bring it to my local Mechanic that specializes in Tacoma’s

Planning on trying to burp it tomorrow. Have your ever heard of how to burp a Tacoma?

Radiator cap off and run it. I was afraid I had a head gasket blown or a crack. But that fixed mine. Once again it was a Bmw.

Park on a hill with the front of the truck pointing up. Then burb the system.
The heater core is higher than the radiator. This will help get any air out.
Air rises, and if you get the radiator up higher, air will want to “float to the top” easier.

What was he experiencing exactly? I’ve heard of multiple people had this problem and burping it fixed it. Hopefully it’s not the head gasket.

do I need to use that specific funnel? Or could I use a regular funnel and just wait till it spills into the overflow?

Can I start the car with the radiator cap off and look for bubbles without damaging the engine or coolant system?

Use caution when opening the radiator cap, if the truck is cold you should be fine. As far as spotting bubbles i dont think you'll have much insight with only the radiator cap off. I think last time I burped my system I wrapped electrical tape around the bottom of the funnel to create a seal where the funnel meets the radiator fill port. The funnel should be the highest point of the cooling system when burping

OP, look at the driver's door jam and see what the build month and year. If lucky, you may have the new style head gasket.

The change date was some time around November or December of 2005. If yours was built January/2006 or later, you have the revised head gasket.

OP, I wouldn’t get too worried about it until you start loosing coolant.
If you are really concerned, you could have a leak down test done.
As well as a coolant system pressure test.

Personally, I wouldn’t do anything right now other than burp the cooling system.
Fill the coolant reservoir to full. Then keep a check on the level.

You usually need to find a problem before you can fix it.
I say, we wait and see if the problem presents itself AFTER you burp the system.
