This year I bought a new to me 2009 Tacoma, quad cab 6spd M.T. I want the A.T. and am starting to gather information. I would also like thoughts and opinions of others that may have done this or considering doing it as well. I am mechanically inclined and intend on doing the work myself.

What I know is the A.T. I would find in the OEM position is an A750F. First question is that what others would recommend? I ask because if the A760F is an option I would consider it for that 6th gear. I am not sure about the fit though. If I am going from a M.T. to an A.T. are the drive shafts the same length? does it fit up to the same transfer case? If the answer is yes then I would think this would be easier than anticipated. A simple swap underneath, computer adjustments and linkage/shifter install with a new center console. RIGHT? I don't know...I still think of myself in the feasibility stage.

Has anyone done this? I can find threads on A.T to M.T. swap and would do a swap with someone who wanted a 6 spd I just haven't found that thread where someone actually wanted an auto over a 6spd. I guess it's just a personal preference. Wife, two kids etc...I just need the easy drive. I'm not an offroad enthusiast, and only use my 4WD on the occasional hunting trip or dirt rd ride to see animals. Can anyone offer some guidance or suggestions? Being that I am early into this, I can get started on a plan first.

    Thanks for the thoughts!

A donor truck from a wrecking yard is about the easiest way to do this .
This way you have all the needed parts or its going to cost you an arm and a leg to purchase everything you need if you plan to assemble the truck part by part .
