Did anyone get skid plates yet? I'm wanting to see a member review.

Thanks for the kind words, Great Guy. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Failure on my part, but thank you @ShawZ for catching it and responding.

I purchased the 7.5 bushing, ($60 part) and ordered a driver side axle seal from A mazon just in case I boogered something up (did not need, but a good spare to have on hand, imo).

I attempted to fabricate a homemade puller, but I'm no machinist, nor welder and so it did not work out. If you have time, ask around your local area threads or the buy sell topics to see if someone has the tool available. Some folks are generous enough to ship the tool at only the cost of shipping.

This thread was pretty active when I was going through it. Cheers!

Im interested in seeing someone with them as well. While I’d like armor, I’m spending too much on other stuff that I wanted.
The only thing I see with these skids is no access plate for the oil filter.

Which could be modified, as *some* skid plates necessitate as well. And in truth, isn't it only the front plate you need to take off? I'm not that bothered by it and unsure how easy it would be to drain through the access anyway.

Also, the companies that have built in an access probably aren't coming in at this price nor the amount of surface coverage you get from the IM skids. I will probably be investing in these at some point.

as someone with budbuilt skids with an access hole to drain the oil.... access holes are amazing and a must imo.

It seems you are speaking from a perspective of someone who hasnt done many mods or own maintenance but if you dont have an access hole, oil changes are a PITA and most shops wont take off a full skid to do an oil change.

also, the coverage of these skids are lackluster and i dont know the purpose of all the cutouts but as anyone knows, when metal is removed.. the strength is reduced. Also, the holes are just asking to get caught on a rock. Full flats skids are ideal.

Being the four cylinder, no access hole isn't a deal breaker for me since I'm pretty sure my oil filter isn't anywhere near it. What's also interesting is that they seemed to segment the front skid into two pieces, so it wouldn't seem like quite as much skid to drop.

I know they mentioned that some of the holes are there for inspection, etc. Not sure which are which. I agree that a full flat skid is better, but might be overkill maybe. Perhaps Ironman realized that that area isn't a high or regular impact area?

I just take off the skid to change the oil, same as I don't open up the hole in my boxers to pee out of, lol. But you might be onto something with the cutouts. I hadn't considered the negatives of those, thanks for that. Either way, its the same as for me as @Devir7 said, far down on the list and so perspectives will likely change between now and then.

I really need to get some armor and recovery gear but it’s still a while before I’d need it.
That said, I’m hoping to do some beach driving in June! Don’t need armor for that but will need some things.

I've been looking at an air compressor & accessories, might be a good time to check out some IM stuff with this extra 25% off. :anonymous:

That’s not a bad plan.. but I just bought the wheelers u bolt flip kit with Timbrens and getting tint done next week... Though I do need a good air compressor if I’m going on the beach...

Yeah, I went out with a couple local guys last weekend, stood around like a dummy while they aired down. Until they offered to make sure I got aired back up, I figured its probably not a bad investment.
    Anyone running an IM compressor?

Got one in last years free promotion for the lift kit. It's large, but fills quick. I like how the hose is long enough to keep the compressor by the driver door so I can turn on/off while I check on pressures on the dash and still reach both tires opposite side. Also, the quick disconnect is nice for packing things up however you like.

@ShawZ and anyone who might know..

What's the point of the gauge on the air line? It doesn't read accurate while filling, or when hooked up and holding back pressure. Kind of a useless thing to me...

I was just reading through reviews on the 5.65CFM compressor, it looks like you're not the only one experiencing the inaccuracy.
The guys I was out with last week, both individuals airing back up had a separate gauge to double check vs what their compressor in line gauge showed. One was running a Viair external compressor and the other had an ARB onboard system.
I thought it was interesting neither of them trusted the gauge on the air line, esp with both being name brand products.
Maybe cheaper gauges help keep the cost down? Are "good" gauges that expensive or are shitty gauges that bad?
I just pulled out my free discount tire pressure gauge and its within 1lb of the dash computer...

Oh there will be some mods all right
I have the same issue as well. My vlair guage is not accurate and have to check pressure with separate guage.

Well, I ordered the compressor, but removed the "smart deflator with gauge" I originally on buying. I do need a deflator, but might put in a little more research before buying... Why does the simple stuff seem the most challenging?

Thanks for the confirmation on the gauge. They also threw in their absurdly large deflator which was not accurate either.

Using button gauge to check psi

    Using in-line gauge to check

    And while filling
    BB7F15E4-5894-46FB-B593-783F5BA079C5.jpg

So yeah, worthless. Cool that you could get it without the inline tho. I’ve yet to find a tool that can do all three (inflate, deflate, read psi) and so I’ve one for each.

But, be warned! The IM compressor can really crank it out! Keep it by the driver door and only turn on for no more than 10 seconds if aired down below 20 psi. From there, 1-5 second bursts to walk it back up and allow enough time for the dash to update before doing it again.

For a deflator.. Check out ARBs. It’s been one of my favorite purchases yet. Spot on for dialing in a pressure that matches what the dash says.

    33 = 33

I’m not sold on those individual set the psi and walk away ones, but are cheap enough to consider giving them a shot.

Oh, I misunderstood what you took out.

Yeah the smart deflator they gave me did not read accurate like the Arb does. It only works while you are not deflating, and then after you’ve opened and let out a few spurts of air, you close it and it has the correct reading. This is the ARB I’m describing, btw. The IM did not read right at all, ever. And, it was way too large.

I see they have a similar one, the speedy, but I’m suspect of any of their gauges now and it isn’t that much cheaper.

Yeah, I saw the speedy, wasn't sure how I felt about a tool that pulls out the valve core to drop air pressure faster. I know my luck... Haha

As long as you make sure its fully open to deflate and then not over-tightening to put back, its fine. I've used the ARB dozens of times and no issue. I just don't trust the ironman gauge after two of their other products didn't read correctly. The smart (LOL) deflator I would have expected to. The in-line pressure gauge, well.. that's optimistic.
