Your happy with the 4.88? Ever wish you went 5.29?

Did you ever have the chance to fiddle more with the locker anytime?

YES! Happy with the 4.88's when I travel across the country getting 20+ MPG BUT there are were times before I start using these custom tunes that I wished I went with 5.29's. Also with the 4.88's pretty limit you to 33" MAX...if I went 5.29's I knew 35's would have been in my future. If you ever want to go bigger tires...5.29's.

No unfortunately. The illumination harnesses are next though. Locker anytime needs my time designing a PCB. The new Raspberry Pi Micro is most likely going to be the brains now that it's released. It's about the cheapest option even though it is overkill for the application.

I’m running @PapaRee DaCruiser tune. He actually tweaked the tip in a bit for me. Bumped up to 285’s from 265’s and the shifting is good and didn’t change between the two tire sizes. It works great here in NW Oregon. Still running stock gears and don’t think I need to change em. Just bought a Travel trailer and the tune is still great all around. Obviously the tune isn’t going to give me the MORE power I wish I had but, until S/C or Turbo, it works. (It’ll be spenB91FE992-DDB4-4364-A1CC-C9718762961C.jpg dy but cheaper than buying a full-size which I don’t want for my daily) MPG’s are crap pulling this new trailer but...It’s heavy for a little 6 banger. Thanks PapaRee. It’s the best tune I’ve used since being OvTuned.

@Mooseditty17, your tune taught me that higher gear != higher MPGs. I'd be meandering about in 4th or 5th when I used to be a gear higher, frustrated it wasn't shifting, but the MPG screen almost always showed good economy, and those times I coaxed an upshift resulted in minimal gains in rare cases, but mostly the same or reduced MPGs. Wouldn't mean much because a downshift was right around the corner anyway.

So I’ve been running the Ultimate Daily tune for about 150ish miles. First off I’m going to say that this tune will shit and get. I’ve never had my truck respond this way. I’ve been running with 89 gas and I feel it’s a good match with that. My truck accelerates on the highway so easy that I often found myself looking down and I was going 85-90mph without even noticing. Truck would downshift when I wanted it and pull in the gear I wanted. It sounds different and runs like there’s nothing holding it back. Overall an outstanding tune. My MPG’s have been the same as they always have been. I feel like this is the perfect tune for a truck with added weight and bigger tires. I’m still running my stock Goodyear’s and no added weight which leads me to the personal preference part of my review.

First off, I didn’t not find anything that felt “wrong” or “bad” with the tune. The tune made my truck run great and the engine sounded happy. For my personal preference I would tune down the tip in and the length of first gear. My truck is stock with no added weight so taking off from a stop it would blast off. Which I don’t think that is a bad thing, I would just make it to where it blasted off after I gave it a little more pedal and wanted it to. That’s really the only thing I would change at the moment. But If I was about to add some gear and tires I would leave it as is.

But overall the tune kicks ass and any other future updates available for 04A61 I’ll be ready to invest and try them out @Mooseditty17 :spending:

That's why my 4-5 is higher than most as well. Once TC locks at 40 or so you can go 50 prior to a shift and still maintain 20 mpg. Power is there, no lugging, no worry of a downshift. More often than not 6th is pretty useless. If it goes in too early, mpg loss. If it holds too long mpg loss, and same goes for momentum. But with the right tweaks it has it's place. People should tune 5th and 6th using their current mpg screen, if that's what they're concerned about. Watch that, note the accelerator position, speed and load, and tweak accordingly. When it starts to dip below 15 under load, it's probably time for a downshift. Of you're not getting above 16-17 under light load, you schedule an upshift....
