I just picked up my '21 Access Cab on the 13th. I had already bought bed lights to put in it, then I noticed that there's no switch in the dash for it.
So my question is......are the bed lights pre-wired from the factory from the bed to the switch area?

Strange, my 2020 access cab sr5 came with them. You'd think the trd would have them already to.

From what I recall the bed lights aren't a part of the normal trim packages so they're an optional accessory with all the other stuff like door sill protectors, running boards, etc. You'll surely find some new dealer optioned with them but I bet most aren't.

When i first spoke to the dealer who ordered my truck, i asked about bed lights when having a tonneau cover...he claimed your truck will come with them. What your saying i must of requested things that were automatically part of a trim package that toyota offers?

None of the Access Cabs have the switch on the dash, since they don't have the cargo light built into the third brake light housing. So you have to buy the switch for sure, and it costs as much or more than the bed light kit itself.

All of the 2021's are wired for the bed lights. They may or may not have the relay, depending on the trim level. My TRD already had the relay.

When I ordered my truck, the bed lights were a port-installed option priced at $140. So I thought I could save money by buying the kit and installing it myself. That was before I found out that I also needed the switch. In retrospect, I would have been better off getting the port-installed option.

Go to toyota.com and play around with the build option. There are two sections Packages and Accessories, a lot of the packages come with the tonneau cover but not all. The accessories are going to be things like floor mats, running boards, bed lights, etc.

Most dealer optioned trucks will have some accessories added (floor mats are very common for example). If you order the truck to be built how you want it you'll select the package you want and then any accessories on top of that.

AliExpress has them for 2020's on for like $55 Canadian...I'm kinda pissed because my '17 doesn't have the cutouts or connections for the plug in

As a rule of thumb, you save money if you buy the accessories separately from one of the cut-rate Toyota dealers that can be found online, and then install them yourself (they're all easy to install). The bed lights may be an exception to this rule, because of the switch complication. (That's if you're getting an Access Cab.)

I told the dealer everything i wanted, but they told me you'll have to accept a couple things extra to get what you requested which i agreed to after haggling with the added cost. Your correct in listing all those items i received plus i wanted a power sliding rear window.
