I am performing scheduled maintenance on my 2008 4 cyl Taco pre runner . I am not able to locate clear concise info here at TW or online. The repair manuals are garbage, not worth the money other than the factory manual at hundreds of dollars. The plug change is what I am trying to do today. I purchased Denso plug, they recommend not gapping the plugs so that much I know. My old 22r was easy to work on...less stuff in the way. Any help is appreciated. https://densoautoparts.com/spark-plug-installation

^^^^ This you shouldn't be trying to gap them. The tips are Very hard, but very brittle I check the gaps and if it is off too much I take it back to the store and get a new one.

I am surprised that you need a manual or instructions to get to the spark plugs on the 2TR-Fe engine.

surprised? I am being cautious......like I said, this is my first time doing this. I had no problem with my 92 Toy or 3 other older Mitsubishi. So yeah... I guess i am stupid. Thanks all, feeling more confident about this. and saving a lot of money.

    You're not stupid my friend.
Checking and confirming before you do any maintenance or repairs is crucial. Not doing that can lead you into trouble.
ie. How many people have l read about here who've accidentally drained their transmission fluid, rather than their engine oil? We can all make mistakes. That's what happens sometimes.
I've worked on cars since l was a kid. But I still check and recheck before doing anything on my Tacoma. I'd rather be sure than cause myself unnecessary problems which can lead to subsequent unnecessary expenses because l screwed something up by accident.

Ask away!!! I know i do

I was always told to check the gaps, you don't know if that plug was dropped, taken out of the box (if not sealed), etc. Probably best to gap check them before installation.

    Yes, you should check gaps.
I used to work for a parts supply store.
You’d be surprised how many people asked to “see the difference” in plugs before they bought them.
After the first time of playing match the plugs to their correct box. I started laying them out for them.
    Next to the correct box.

This was back when the “split fire” plugs were being pushed heavily on TV and magazines.

#1 question was. Do you sell them and are they any good.
We sold a lot of them. I never used them myself.

My point is, always check the gap and the plug itself.
There might just be the wrong plug in the box.
