Its not Taco Tuesday but was Maserati Monday..

Just to give you some perspective on the difference between OEM Flashing like the Tacoma and adding an inline performance ecu.. Its just a different way to achieve the same outcome.

That outcome is calibrating the vehicle to produce the most power while being efficient (burning as much of the oxygen as possible in the cylinder) for proper emissions and fuel economy.. All this while producing a driving experience that is tailored to the client.

So for this client we had to cut into 3 separate OEM harnesses in this beautiful Maserati Gran Turismo~

A bit nerve racking cutting into the factory harness, but in the end the car is even faster and more responsive than stock all while keeping OEM efficiency and providing a better driving experience..

Trust comes with time and I just wanted to share some of the other tuning we do..

Had a 2019 that the owner was just about done with it.. Shifting was just not where it needed to be with the larger tires and stock gears.

I updated him to the latest TSB and flashed the Kruiser 4.0 Performance Tune.. Also gave him some Techstream love and turned off his door chimes at his request.

Another client who is happy again....

    Best,

    John

We can work something out. Takes about an hour with a proper test drive.

I’m on my way to Pittsburgh, Pa to tune a group of guys and will be back on the 1st.

let me know if you are interested and we’ll get a date set.

    thanks

    John.

Just got to Pittsburgh last night and had a nice TRD PRO drive up from Maryland for a tune... He had a much better drive back with shifting where he thought it always should have been..

No more manual shifting on the highway unless he wants to play!

Appreciate the client making the drive to get tuned..... I'll be back in Alabama on the 1st for those asking when I'll be tuning again in Birmingham.

A beautiful Voodoo Blue 2019 getting a TSB update and the Kruiser 4.0 Tune. This truck had a K&N Intake which fortunately keeps the MAF sensor in the stock location.

Keeping the MAF in the stock location maintains the factory MAF calibration and volumetric efficiency in the engine.

Be careful when changing inflow and outflow (Intake or Exhaust) of the factory engine as this can lead to a lean condition placing the truck close or over its knock threshold. This is why it's so important to get a good test drive and monitor appropriate PID's to verify proper function after tuning or calibration.

The client was very pleased with the results !

I had my truck tuned a few days ago by John.
I was very pleased with the whole process. He answered any questions I had about the tune and explained everything on what he was going to do to load everything up.
I signed all the paperwork which is nice so its a documented procedure not like a meet someone they plug in and pay and go.
Once he started it was really nice to see someone use a nice soft microfiber draped over my front end when he hooked up the battery tender while he was checking for any ECU updates needed. I am very anal about my paint so that was a huge bonus in my book.

Once all the ECU checks were done he flashed my truck which only took a few mins and we then took a ride. John monitored all my truck params to make sure the tune was working well with my truck and not just giving me a tune and thats it and hope it plays nice with my truck.

All and all it was a nice quick flash and the extra care done to the truck for the prep work and the ride after to make sure everything is good to go is what takes it a step up compared to how other tunes I have done on past cars I have owned.

    KDMAX 6.0 tune
I had KDMAX 6.0 tune, 87 Octane with light throttle tip in installed on my 2020 Tacoma Sport DBL Cab on Friday by John aka @Boltripper . John was super accessible and willing to talk about various tunes and what each offers before I committed. He's actually installed the tunes on his personal Tacoma, so he was able to give valuable feedback and recommendations based on his personal experiences. I'm very glad I took John's advice because I am very happy with the tune so far (still trying to get some miles in).

I Met John at his house, which actually made me feel more comfortable about the whole process. John again took the time to talk about the various tunes available. John was very meticulous during the actual tuning process. He performed the tune following a detailed check list and documented every step of the process. He connected a backup battery to ensure there were no problems due to low voltage during the process. He verified I had the latest TSB installed before proceeding with the tune. After the tune was installed, he asked me to drive the truck to verify that I was happy with the tune (I will give a detailed review of the tune when I get a few more miles on it here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/disappointed-in-new-tacoma-ovtune-help.714757/. Just let me say that I immediately felt a big improvement. John rode along and monitored the data stream to ensure all parameters were within the normal range during the test drive. With all this said, John made me comfortable with a process that I have never performed on any of my vehicles. He is detail oriented and very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend John to anyone wanting to install a tune on their Tacoma!

BTW, I live in Huntsville, AL area. I drove to Birmingham to have the tune installed by John.

Recent 2016 SR5 owner but long time Toyota owner. I'm coming from an '07 4Runner which I've loved to the Tacoma in November. I disliked the way the Tacoma drove and shifted from day one. Found out about performance tuning and John from the forum here. I had taken the truck to a Toyota dealer who had installed the latest TSB. And while that improved it somewhat it was still less than I desired. Contacted John and drove over from Mississippi. Very professional, attention to detail. I was going to get the Kruiser 4.0 but after talking to John and reading about the KDMax 6.0 I went with that. Glad I did! I think perhaps the Kruiser 4.0 would have gotten me back to the way my 4Runner drove, I believe the KDMax exceeds it. My truck is so responsive and quick now. Hills are no problem, shifting is smooth and seems "right". The cruise control is much, much better. Before I couldn't use resume or the truck would drop to 4th gear unless I was at or near the set speed. I live in a valley and when I pull out of my driveway I go up a pretty steep incline. Before my truck would just crawl up it. Now it Hardly notices there a hill there. Very happy with the tune so far. Very happy with John installing it. Highly recommended!

How does a canuck located north of the border acquire the Kruiser 4.0 tune? I have my own VFTuner kit and got a dealership applied TSB for the shifting (now on 04B33 - '19 A/T). Can i sort out payment electronically and get the tune file emailed or something?

Just completed over 1800 miles on the new KDMax 6.0 Performance Tune.. Trip was from Alabama through West Virginia doing some great camping then to Pittsburgh for a family visit and back. This is a heavy, heavy truck and the tune was amazing.. Highway, Backroads and Fire Roads with no issues.

If you are interested in the new Tune or just have questions about tuning for your Tacoma, hit me up and lets chat~

Another MGM Taco in for an Updated TSB and the new KDMax 6.0

Its hard to describe the look on their faces during the test drive. Its satisfying to see people getting excited to drive their Tacoma again.
