I thought they only use a bulb seal/ gasket for the rear door

I gotta rip off the bed trim rails and seal it. Water gets in from tires kicking up water from underneath.

I plan to wrap mine too but I need to figure out what solar panel I’m going to run so I can set that up and then have my friend wrap the roof. I don’t want him to wrap it now then having to trim it for the solar panel lol!

My bed is empty right now so measuring is easy. From top of bed rail to bottom of platform is 23". Add 1 more inch for platform thickness.

I measured the panels in case that is useful as well. The removable panels are each 25 1/4 inch wide and 17.5 inch from back of canopy to the edge of the moveable platform. That's measuring from below, so there may be a little more space on top when the roof is open. There is a lip on the moveable platform which I'm including in its dimension. The two removable half panels sit on that lip. Moveable platform is full width or 50.5" and 44" long. There is around 7" overhang at the front for the fixed platform.

Rather than have SP saw the moveable panel in half, why not just push it forward part way? I wouldn't want to deal with having to stow another panel somewhere. By pushing it forward you'd have full adjustability, anything between a few inches to the full distance. You can still put things on top of the mattress when it is folded over.

I see you are wanting to go with Deaver leafs in the future. Which model will you go with? Trying to figure out what I will do with the new added X1 weight. Thanks!

Thank you for that work. Just what I needed. That 17.5 is less than I thought. Good to know. Need to lose 10 pounds. Ok 20.

I agree about simply pushing the larger moveable panel forward say half way, on top of the fixed panel and under the folded mattress. The only issue would be leveling it so it doesn’t tilt, which could be accomplished with blocks of some kind on the sides. I’m going by what I saw in my friend’s Drifter, assuming the panels are the same basic design.

That solves the problem, but I think what I really want is to face to the rear or the side while I’m working so I can look out the windows. Looks like that will require a homemade desk panel of some sort.

    Thanks.

Or just a length of 90° Aluminum to keep the two back panels in while you push the big panel forward, that’s probably your most minimal option.

Right. And a way to keep it snug so I don’t accidentally knock it back and drop the two panels, my laptop, and my last cup of morning coffee lol. Should be easy enough to do.

you will need the U402 in some of stages 1,2,3 or if you are overland heavy you will need a custom leaf pack. I have been meaning to switch to them for months but held off until I had the camper. The truck was already grossly overweight and they were recommending 1700 over stock for the rear. The stage III deavers are 1000 over stock for comparison. If you are lighter then you may be able to get away with the stg III or event stage II if your truck is fairly stock.

ha that's prob something I would do. What are you doing to be using for connection? I likely can't really do it but thought would be great if I could get away for a couple of days and work remotely. I signed up for Elon's space internet see what that is all bout. 150mb download speeds should do the trick.

Doesn't it require a powered antenna, like a home base?

Looking forward to building out a remote workplace setup here as well. (WeBoost powered at first, I don't think Starklink supports roaming, yet)

Haven't thought much about panel placement yet, but good point on preferring to face out, rather than forward over the cab. I won't know how important that is to me until I try it out with all windows open.

The 90deg aluminum bar sounds like a promising solution, and maybe a couple brackets that could thread into t-slot, or M6 bosses.
