I have a 2015 Tacoma the experiences a "whistling" sound when I go over ~70mph. I've identified it to be the door seals and I saws there was a TSB for it so its rather well known. My question is, how do TSB's work? Do I need the TSB to show the dealer (If so ill need a link to it, ive see it on here before)? Do they do it for free like a recall or at some kind of discount? I've tried the cheap fix of putting extra and extra seal under the OEM one to apply extra pressure but that only worked for about 6 months.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

A TSB technical Service Bulletin is only free during the warranty period. Unless the dealer is giving away things (right).

So yeah it will cost you on a 2015.

I think only my driver's side made noise, but I did both anyway.

I noticed the TSB mentions 'double-sided tape'. Did your new weatherstrip seals come with the tape pre-applied from the dealer, or did you buy that elsewhere?

They come with the tape already on em. Just pull the old ones off, peel the tape off the new one and slap em on. Very easy to do.

Yup, it comes already affixed to the rubber seal, with a red protective film/tape over the adhesive. It's very easy to install.

You do have to remove one bolt for the door brake, just be careful when you put it back to make sure you don't cross thread the bolt into the metal.

Also, when you remove that door brake remember to either cover the end with cloth or move it out of the way or just be weary of it. The door will likely sway and that brake will run into your door jam and scratch it... at least mine did a couple of times (and i was even trying to be careful).

3 bucks in 1/4in dripper irrigation line and 6 bucks for some clear RTV adhesive will achieve the same thing as the redesigned door seals.

While that worked for me for a couple years with only the occasional kazoo noise in extreme conditions, it slowly got worse over time. The TSB is a guaranteed solution. However, cost/benefit analysis says you could probably get by for the life of your vehicle with the drip line solution than what you pay for the TSB weather-stripping.

The TSB ends at 3 years or 36k miles.

I bought them myself and installed them. 100% cured the kazoo sound.

It does not necessarily cure the squeak some people get. Some Sil Glyde every few months takes care of that.

I mean.... i have had 1/4in irrigation line (2x full length pieces in the folds of the door seal top) for 7 years and 100k miles, no issues and fully cured any kazoo. 100$+ saved can go to beer etc.

I came out with this fix in 2015 documented here. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-at-highway-speed.309795/page-7#post-10192245 My findings after initial install was you only needed the "far left and far right" 1/4in irrigation line, the center one is not needed nor is the A pillar seam.

Pretty sure toyota saw this and came out with the tsb seal.

My 2015 is fine in crosswinds or any conditions as far as the noise that is being reported. Just curious, do you people that have noise problems actually clean the rubber seals periodically? Do you lubricant them at all ?

The road grime gets into those seals, dries them out and they no longer function as intended. You need to wipe them with a soapy rag and apply some 303 on a regular basis.
