Not sure the Griot's pads are the same, the backing looks the same, but the material not so.

While I haven't personally used 3D products they are very well known and good products. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

Is there anything you didn't like about this polisher?

Have you tried any other long throw polisher to compared the Harbor Freight to?

Was easy to get used to over the Griot's 6" polisher?

The only think I don't like is the trigger/lock mechanism. I found myself bumping the trigger in the beginning and turning it off. I did start to get used to it and did it less frequently twords the end.

I have not tried any other long throw polisher. The prices on other brands are what kept me away from the others. To me the quality is right on par to my older Griot's 6"

It took a couple passes for me to get used to the longness of it compared to my other one. I did find it was easier for me on side panels sitting on the floor to do larger passes without stretching my arms as far.

Was there any stalling on flat or curved panels?

Was there any area of the vehicle that you felt a shorter throw polisher would be a better choice?

Beside destroying old pads would any pads works or do you need pad design for long throw polisher?

This thing had lots of power, never did want to bog down. I feel this can do the same spots as the smaller Griot's. Both are 6" so I guess that has alot to do with it. On the lower panels I did have do angle it a little different. I don't know if you need certain pads. The ones I destroyed (1 foam and 1 Griot's microfiber) were well used. Put on a new microfiber and it was fine.

Does it feel like a rotational vibe? ie. constant but varied intensity?

If not, have you checked the torque on your bed bolts?

Does the long throw polisher does a lot correction than the smaller throw polisher or the correction rate was only marginal quicker?

I read at Autopia that one person opinion is, long throw are only marginal quicker and are limited.

Unless you are really experienced, be careful with a Long Throw Buffer.

I have no experience with a long throw polisher. With the Porter Cable I can get rotary like correction. The throw is the part, what concern me. I'm thinking, will I be able to get into tighter area like with the Porter Cable. Work along the edges like with the PC. Plus, get used to the platterpus style grip.

To bad I don't know anyone with a long throw polisher.

You are local to me brother, do you want to try my Griot G9? It's the best polisher I have ever used.
