When we have our Ultimate file(s) released for the MT. I know it sucks but really pointless to work backwards to an old version when the new stuff is almost done

Tons of master keys sent out. It's 1AM here, been cranking out the keys all day. More tomorrow.

Also, if you're watching this thread. Some of you guys requesting this already have VF Tuner. You don't need this update if you already have VF Tuner.

Sorry i said it wrong earlier.

The 1d maps are the ones that cause the issue. The ones without graphs

Alright, got up this morning before the graduation party to see if I can at least get licensed, and uhh, well... Yeah.

Ran into this first during Read ECU.

    readecu.jpg

I already had the guide open behind vF and it states:

    Guide.jpg

So I went there with the Select Calibration File to see if I can load up 04B04. But, it appears this version only looks for .VFC files, not the .VFT files that are present in the stock tunes folders?

    novfc.jpg

Do we need to have those stock calibrations updated to .VFC? And in the meantime, does this mean I need to do the manual licensing method? Sound like it's very picky on typos.

I can confirm the PC does see the Tactrix cable, as I'm able to see it and select it in the old Flash Manager, and in Device Manager. Thanks in advance!

    ----------

Oh, or is this really not relevant at all considering it's already been flashed? I was just going through ye olde setup guide.

    2. You cannot read your ECU if you have previously tuned/flashed it. And if you know your ECU ID, which it looks like you do, there is no reason to try to read your ECU.

Though if this is the case, it appears it will not pop up to ask to license the VIN as stated in the guide.

5.0.1.4.On the popup, press "Read ECU" button This will gather the basic information about your vehicle as shown below. The “ID” is your CALIBRATION or ECU ID The software will then ask you if you would like to license the vehicle (4 credits are required)

@BrettsMac08 - I ran into the exact same snag this morning. I did some reading through the various VF threads, and I think (don't trust me) that the textual instructions are wrong, but the picture in the instruction is correct. I think you're supposed to click "Prepare ECU" rather than "Read ECU".

I took a chance and pressed "Prepare ECU", and after a few seconds of processing, I got a pop-up containing my VIN asking if I want to register it. I clicked register, which charged 4 of the 5 VF credits, all of which seems to be correct given the other posts I've read.

Now I'm stuck, because the email I got from Mat didn't contain the tune pack. I'm pretty sure I need to send another email with my ECU ID to be provided with the 2.0 tunes. In the meantime I'd like to tune back to stock, which should be possible without the tune pack, but I'm struggling to figure that out too.

What's your ECU ID? Would make sense if you have an update to perform that before getting your TP from Mat.

04B04, and I'm on 2.0 Final that I flashed with P5F last year before I got locked out of the program due to a reg file change.

I installed 5.29 gears in January, and I've been trying to get the transmission tuning aligned with the gear/tire combo ever since. I'd also like to get back onto regular fuel, because premium has gotten a little spendy as of late.

Cool deal! I’ll give that a shot. That really needs to be fixed then or this will just be a repeat question as you’d expect. I saw the screenshot but generally screenshots are meant to reinforce the text so I was going off the text first.

I’ll give that a shot later today and should be good.

I’ll add I also didn’t get linked to a tune pack, I suppose those must be requested separately. Not a big deal as I already purchased a tune and was just provided a VFC version of it so in my case, I’m good. But if I wanted to go back to 2.0, I could not as mine are all .p5f from last year.

Hitting Read pulls a copy of the stock tune file and hasn't been necessary for years. Used to be we'd need to do that and provide it to OVTune as part of the tuning process so he could verify ECU ID I'm assuming, in case you had an unsupported ECU version

Based on the vF Tuner forums, it looks like V1.3 of the software is in the queue for release, so maybe the instructions will be updated along with the new version. If not, the "Prepare ECU" instruction really needs to be cleaned up, because it seems to have been incorrect and irrelevant for some time.

Guessing that means "flash manager replacement"? Or am I way off base?

    That'd be me.

I'll be keeping an eye out. Would be killer if I get that, AND Ultimate drops before my Road Trip in June.. pound 5k on it in a week or so...

Either way, thanks for all you do.
@OVTune is pretty much the only reason I kept my Tacoma.

Quick question for @OVTune - for those that are getting the new Flash/Log vF Tuner (I got mine, yay!) what files are we expected to be able to flash or do we have to follow up in our email to request a tune pack in .VFC format? I notice all the stock files in the program directory are still .VFT and cannot be flashed. And since the 2.0 files many of us have are in .P5F format, we can't change our tune if we wanted to with the new software. Seems that we may get stuck with software to flash, but no flashable tunes?

I'm alright as I have a purchased one I just successfully flashed but if I had the desire to go back to 2.0 base or had my gears changed etc, I could not. I also cannot go back to stock either, as the format isn't recognized for flashing.

    Thanks!

All VFT stock files will be VFC when 1.3 is out to eliminate any of that confusion. Makes it easier going forward to just have 1 single file type.
4 pages left of them. working on it.

there is a lot of you guys.
