Anyone else have an order for a DB rack from Chassis Unlimited that they are waiting on? Placed my order on 3/26 and followed up on 4/26. Said they were working on it but still haven't gotten anything in the mail or shipping notification. Status still says preparing for shipment. Trying not to be a bugaboo but was wondering if anyone else is having the same experience.

Any reason you used Yakima crossbars instead of Thule for the racks? Especially since you used a Thule rail. Just curious, I’m gonna build mine out like you did yours but I’m a big fan of Thule. Haven’t used Yakima before.

Can anyone with a cross bin 8 on a 3rd gen give me some measurements on it. I need the length of it at the cab side and the tailgate side and the depth of it from the part that goes over the rails to the bottom of the box

Is there anyone should could measure the cleat bolt spacing on either the SE or HD diamondback? I’m pretty sure there the same and 1.5” but if anyone can confirm I’d greatly appreciate it. I saw one post back a few pages that mentioned mounting extra cleats I think.

I envisioned a clean bed cover setup. Diamondback SE with my recovery/tool bin, traction boards, and 2 fuelpax discreetly tucked in the bed. Room for luggage when on the road or tent/camp gear when in the woods.

Curious for those with the Front Runner rack setup, do any of you have any pics with the rack/rails off? Is that possible or once you have it drilled/mounted is it permanent? Are you stuck with either permanently having your RTT/gear mounted or looking like you have a spoiler on your truck/truck bed? If they're off, does that leave a bunch of holes exposed thus not making the setup very weatherproof?

I want to run that same setup but don't want to have my RTT/gear mounted all the time & I dont really like the look of the empty rack/rails on top of the cover. Not to mention I'd still like to have the cover fully functional with the capability to load/haul stuff on top but obviously cant do that with the rail system attached. Any insight greatly appreciated.

Having the load bars removed and the rails left on the cover is what I’ve done if the bars get in the way. The rails are pretty low and flush and haven’t caused any issues for me and aren’t unsightly. The thing that does get in the way sometimes is the lock. That block sticks up a bit, but I’ve worked around it just fine. I’ve even mounted random stuff on top of my rails or between them and just tied them down if it was too tall to fit under the cover. I typically just leave my bars mounted though without my RTT on top and you still have full functionality of the cover opening from both sides.

If you do remove the rails, there will be holes, but they are small but you’ll see the shiny aluminum. You could always seal it with black sealant and you’d never notice the holes if you get rid of the system.

Yohb? 405N in SFV/Van Nuys, CA. Had a Demello front bumper, possibly a BAMF rear bumper, possibly a Prinsu roof rack, rock sliders, aftermarket wheels/tires suspension, DB cover and bedrack with spare tire holder in the basket. Looks like it was a custom/diy bedrack that could allow both cover panels to open while it’s on. Nice rack... lol

Do most of you with the Front Runner Rack System and a RTT use 2 or 3 load bars? DB recommends using 3 bars if mounting a RTT but I've seen most run only 2 bars. I'm guessing it'd obviously be safer to run 3 but most applications 2 bars would be sufficient as long as there isnt much added weight.

That's an UpTop Overland roof rack.
I would be too paranoid about putting my tire up there. I feel like my center of gravity would be so high up that I'd feel like rolling.
LLOD runs 2 bars on his setup I believe, but not sure if him running a Ikamper skycamp mini makes a difference or not due to weight.

I run two load bars holding up a small version of their Slimline II bedrack carrying a soft shell tent weighing around 94-97lbs with bedding stored, an axe with their axe holder, and sometimes a Hi-Lift jack with their holder. Two load bars seem stout enough for that setup. It’s been like that almost everyday since July 2018. Sometimes, I run it without the Hi-Lift jack. Apartment living pretty much means the setup is on that way as a daily.

I've been using two bars and it has been absolutely fine but it has bothered me that the two bar setup puts all of the torsion on the removable panels and none on the crossbeam that is tightened to the truck bed. I recently ordered a third just to add support at the center.

By the way, at least for me, it was cheaper to buy the third bar separately from Diamondback than it was to order it with the main two bar kit. I think shipping was higher overall when they were combined, but ordering separately it came out a bit cheaper.

I'm wondering if anyone had an issue when closing the cab panel? The passenger side is not latching/getting inside the inside rail UNLESS I get up onto the cover...I've untightened and retightened the rods 3 times and I had about 150 lbs sitting on the top corners. The directions say it takes 3-4 days leaving it closed for the gas struts to 'settle' but I'm impatient so...here we are.....

Not specifically. I think @GHOST SHIP made a one off for someone. I believe there were photos on his shenanigans thread.

Otherwise I would get the frontrunner setup and attach a basket on top of it.
