    Hey guys,

I need help. My truck busted and I'm in the middle of nowhere with barely any service. Something has broken where the CV axle turns the wheel on my front driver side. Right now the axle is almost completely free of the wheel hub, and I can push it in and almost pull it out of the wheel hub while I'm turned all the way to the left, but not quite. There seems to be some cogs on the end of the axle that I can see when I push it in towards the differential, and there was some part that seemed to fit over those cogs that's snapped in two, like a bearing race with holes in it to accept the cogs. Right now the differential end boot is holding everything together. Is it okay to drive like this? Right now it knocks when the wheel is turning in that axle. Should I try to remove it all the way? I need to know if I can get home.

I'm sure the answer is on the forum's but I can't search well with my limited service.

Remove the cv from diff but leave the outer section in hub if you can. It needs to be in there for the truck to drive.

The hub part is the part that's effed though. Hub being where the wheel is anyway. I can push the axle almost all the way out of the hub and it is seemingly separated from it. The truck drives though, because it's still got rear wheel drive. Know what I mean? There is like a castle head on the end of it I can see when I try to yank it out of the hub, there's just barely not enough clearance to get it out. I need to know if this means my wheel can come off with the bearing or not...

    Moved to Canadian section.

How close are you to Alaska?

    Closest city?

The axle nut could have come loose somehow. You might be able to fix it a put it back on. It’s hard to say without being there

This move isn't going to help me, I need all the exposure I can get... Why would I get moved if my post wasn't regional

Anyway, yea the Yukon is right next to Alaska. I'm not really close in the scheme of things right now.

Ok, so let's say we can't put it back on, as I'm fairly sure that's not an option at this point?

Can you take a pic? It could be a option if threads aren’t messed up.

I wish I could. The connection can barely get my posts out. All I can say is something is effed where the CV axle goes into the hub, it looks like what the axle uses to drive the wheel. If the axle is free of the hub, does that mean my wheel can come off if nothing is done?

Take the wheel off, pull the dust shield off and verify the axle nut and outer cup are still intact.

Wheel can’t come off since it’s bolted to hub that’s bolted to spindle. Make sure the axle nut still connected. Not sure if you carry around a 35mm cause that’s what it calls for. As long as it’s tight you should be able to get where you going in 2wd unless your in some thick stuff or snow/ice which is a part of the country your in.

    Sounds like front bearing failed.

I'm trying to post a picture but it just won't go :(. I need someone to show me what they mean by axle nut and outer shell. I'm leaning that I'm SOL right now since it seems to me that the axle is not connected to the wheel assembly at all.
