They're not bad. Just won't come out. Don't want to break them

Typically they’ll end up breaking. Then you have to very carefully drill them out. I usually pop the cv axle and try to force them out from the other side

Drove to my girl's house to help with some yard work and noticed the steering wheel was still off. Arrived at her house and peaked underneath.

    Voila.

I believe the alignment shop caused the tear.

Gonna see what they say. Going to call first thing in the morning. I still need the alignment regardless. Lifetime alignments paying for itself this weekend.

I have a plan b and plan c if Firestone doesn't or won't replace the boot.

Oh boy the classic blown out CV boot... my truck did that recently... new boot good to go.

as for the alignment, they may of not tightened the eccentric fully or didn’t re roll the truck when done which means inaccurate readings

if they want to replaced, keep the original. The aftermarkets typically bind.

UPDATE: Got her dropped off back at the shop this morning. They're going to get the alignment done. They're waiting for the tech to arrive that was working on it.

Kinda blew smoke up their ass a bit saying they're a reputable shop and if it was blown while they were working on it yesterday, they would have said something to me in the waiting room. Praying they do what's right.

They're going to call with any updates.

Waiting for my Uber back home now. Living alone sometimes sucks.

I literally had said, "look, I'm not trying to blame anybody; not Firestone, you (the manager), the tech. It happened and it's done. I drove it home 40 minutes Saturday night and I had to fix the dust shield on that side since it was rubbing the edge of the rotor. I was under there on that side and didn't notice anything. I only drove it here Sunday morning (first thing) and noticed it after I was done here. If your guy was working on it, he's under there, I have no doubts he or someone would have come to the waiting room and told me and we could have handled it yesterday."
I appreciate you taking me this morning and I'll wait for your call. Thanks."

Reunited and it feels so good!

They could not figure out if they were the ones that caused the tear in the CV boot but they did not charge me anything. My money is they did it.

But we're moving past it. That's not to say that blowing a little smoke didn't help.

She drives straight and no axle grease in my wheel well.

I'm thinking about raising the passenger side 2 more threads. The driver's side is raised 7 threads as @boogie3478 mentioned in his thread. Not saying that caused the tear either. My money is on the shop.

So far, Firestone lifetime alignment has paid off in this weekend alone. Just wish their techs took a little more care. In the end though, they made it right.

    Happy customer.
