Not sure if 3rd gens are the same, but the 2nd gens 400watt power inverter is knocked down to 100 watts when shifted from park .
One of the weekend projects was to disable this for 400 watts at all times, and add an additional outlet bank in the cab.
Turned out pretty good, I used an outlet bank which has some USB charger outlets for the kids electronics on long trips.
And now I can run a warming tray on low to keep food warm on the way to events! Lol. Real world problems. :D

Never seen one of these until Friday. Customer brought it to us, it’s a solid piece of carbide and it melts its way through making room for more threads in thin metal. They are going to go back and tap these 1/4-20. I get to do 600 holes on the manual mill with it. Glad they are tapping them.

I can only imagine that heat work hardens the material, I wonder if it makes for harder tapping.

Probably so. These are called “flow drills” there are videos of people doing 1/4” thick material. It’s crazy!

Okay, I get the theory, but it sounds dodgy to me... that material is going to be as hard (and brittle) as the hubs of hell, probably not going to have a constant diameter...

Flow drilling is pretty common from what I’ve seen. I could be wrong but I thought if you heat the hell out of low carbon steel you just get hot steel, you need a high carbon content to make it hardened steel? Like you can’t make a tool out of 12l14 that needs to be hardened because itll never get to tool strength, but hi-speed steel can be hardened and tempered.
I am just repeating what I heard on this old Tony’s YouTube channel, so I could be completely wrong on that.

You're right, you'll never hardened it in the sense you can harden tool steel, but you can harden it sufficiently to make it difficult to work. Not a machinist, don't play one on television, and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I futz around with mechanics and machine-work just enough to know enough to be really, really dangerous.
