Solid State batts. are coming sooner than later, I'm gonna wait for them before buying EV. The 300 mile battery is extra....standard battery is 230 miles.

Hopefully we'll figure out better ways for large scale storage as well. Currently there's no real way to store energy so electric production has to nearly exactly match demand or it can cause other, much larger issues with the grid.

The standard battery should be a little lighter though. I was just comparing weight to range.

scalpers gonna buy this up! Price is unbelievable!

If it was an Electric Tacoma TW would have spare battery add on mods and tailgate solar charges.

For the commercial F150 EV even with the added $10k price tag for 300 mph range at say $50-55k it’s still cheaper than the rivan standard 300 mi range which is around $75k from figures I’ve seen. For commercial fleet work avg range is around 170 mi and the F150 will win that battle hands down. For consumer trucks I expect the same as far as sales go though the 400 mi Rivan has an edge if you want to pay a lot. Time will tell.

Agreed. Ford maxed out the range on the E-Transit work vans at 126mi and you know they did their homework there so 230 on the F150 is plenty for most people.

Well I just bought 60 shares of Ford at $13.01 a share because that’s all I had in cash in my playing around account. To the moon! Well maybe to the next town over lol ;)

I am very excited for the EV truck/SUV future and plan to make one (or both) of my next vehicle purchases an EV, whether it be to replace my wife's Prius or my Tacoma in 2-3 years.

I was all aboard the Rivian train (and still am), but the Ford price point is quite intriguing for a full sized EV truck. My company's fleet trucks (ford/chevy single cabs) are just under 30k. Comparing current lifecycle cost (maintenance, fuel, etc) to Ford's ~$40k commercial model minus tax incentives, I think one can start to make a compelling value argument for a switch.

I also think that Rivian R1S SUV could be the biggest unsung hero to the EV market because they are currently the only ones that have revealed a 7 passenger family hauler prototype, a market where consumers already drop $50k+ on a vehicle. They start to become a semi-luxury status symbol which will drive demand for a entry-level or midsize SUV EV.

Here’s to hoping that Ford expands this to the Expedition and Bronco

If they were smart they made a universal skateboard type EV platform.

    One would hope.

Currently all F series trucks and expedition are on the T3 platform. Ranger and bronco on the smaller T6 platform, and the 2021 explorer is the first vehicle on their new CD6 platform (used to be D6).

If the lightning is maintaining rough dimensions and geometry of the current F150, then an Expedition EV on the same platform seems like a no brainer if the market is there. My guess is the mustang Mach E platform (GE1) would be used as a base for an EV Explorer if they call it that. They could just stick with the Mach-E branding and make another slightly larger model.

Bronco and Ranger are oddballs, as they probably fall in-between. Not sure if the market would be there for an EV Bronco or Jeep variant. Seems slightly contrary to the "go-anywhere, off-grid" branding even if 95% of buyers never actually take theirs off pavement.

I think you're right and I think you nailed it with the 95%. Jeep already has the 4xe Wrangler out and is talking full BEV. I hope the Bronco follows. Could care less about the Ranger haha
