One more question, I have a Stanley branded 5/16” punch that is just slightly too big for the collar… is there something unique about the harbor freight 5/16” punch that allows it to fit?

I think the hole on the collar is ever so slightly bigger than 5/16" as there's a small amount of play with that punch when I shove it in the hole, so to speak. Which I now realize only compounds your mystery. So perhaps quality of manufacture and tolerances?

Interesting. I tried all the holes on the collar with my 5/16" and it didn't fit any. I just got back from Harbor Freight and picked up a tapered punch set... which looks like it won't work (the tapered portion is too small of diameter for the collar hole).

Maybe the HF punches are magic? That said, they feel sturdy enough and cost like 8 bucks for the set. I got a second set for easier spinning when the coilovers are off the truck and/or if the first breaks. I've used some of the other sizes for precision whacking of stuff with a hammer.

Congrats! You are right, I was thinking Aca Taco! Soooo good… Tacos de is off Ivy. Chico was/is a righteous place for the college experience.

To keep this on point, I just ordered FOX 2.0s front and rear w the resi. I’m doing an ECGS bushing, an Icon 3 leaf progressive AAL w newer Gen 3 leafs along w Wheelers bump stops. Looking at this brake line bracket bracket ( https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...line-brackets-icon-deaver-old-man-emu.720254/ ) and JBA UCAs. Other considerations might be sway bar bracket relocate if it’s close to hitting and maybe a diff. Drop if I have driveline vibes. I hope this covers it all.

Perfect info. Thanks for the input. I’m thinking very similarly. I’ve read that the UCA’s aren’t always necessary unless you’re rubbing or going higher than 2.5”. Does that sound accurate or is there additional info I may be missing?
Where did you order your foxes from? I seem to be finding a lot of back order/delayed shipping messages.

Looks like the Harbor Freight punches are magic. I returned the incorrect set and bought the right one (the set of 5) and the 5/16” punch fit the collar. I followed Accutune’s instructions and lifted till my coilovers measured approx. 21” at ride height… this equals roughly 20ish threads showing on either side for me. Sitting at about 23” (hub to fender) or slightly more (not an exact level surface). I may not have the full 2.5” lift but am happy with the 21” height the coilovers are at now

What compression settings is everyone using for both on-road and off-road driving conditions? I'm experimenting with my settings and am looking for what works for others who have the stock 600lb coil as well!

I see earlier on the thread a few settings mentioned:

"Does anybody have the DSC dialed in for on and off road driving? Right now I turned both knobs counter clockwise all the way, then the blue knob clockwise 5 "clicks" and the yellow clockwise 7 "clicks. " it was a kinda rough around town."

"I'm at 7 from open on HS and 1 on LS. feels nice on shitty streets of Long Beach , CA"

"I ended up fully closed on HS and 1 click from full open on LS for now. The extra caster I added to clear the 275 really has a negative effect on everything."

In the 72 hours I've had the Fox installed, I'm currently running:
    - open in the rear (no weight in the bed)
    - 7 clicks from open Low speed (600lb coil, no armor in front)
    - 1 click from open High speed (600 lb coil, no armor in front)

I run 1 click from open on everything until i hit the trails. I like it soft and have no sway bar.
If Im driving up a twisty mt road, i close the LS knobs completely to keep sway down, and it works real well as replacement for my sway bar kind of.
Once I hit the trail, i anticipate my speed and the terrain and close the knobs accordingly typically around 8 click on HS and 1 turn on LS. I probably rarely use the same settings each time i go offroad. Its fun to play around with them in the dirt and see the difference.

Interesting. I'm currently the opposite, I keep LS closed for the road (control body roll) then open for the dirt (soft for the bumps). My HS is open most of the time - always want to eat up the sudden potholes or bumps.

I'll try your settings though and see how I like - always fun to try different setups

I like to drive fast when offroad. So tune for compression at High Speed. I have been on runs where Im stuck with slow people and I keep everything open to make it soft yes.
A lot of it depends on how I feel I will be driving, and here in Los Angeles, my slow driving is on-road, because I have no choice haha.

For example two weeks ago I was on the Mojave Trail, I was blowing thru my travel too quick and hitting the bump stops so I closed HS a few clicks more and solved the problem, acquiring a smoother ride for the speed I was traveling

I bought the 5/16 punch from harbor freight but I didn't get the tapered. The straight punch works perfectly. I just had to crank on my collar today bc my front end was sitting lower. I used a combination of the spanner wrench and the punch.

Can a bad alignment contribute to a stiffer ride?
My current setup is 2.5 fox with dsc adjusters, 14” 600 lbs coils, C4 hybrid bumper and 12k winch.
I took off some preload of my shocks, right now I’m at 21” from eye to eye since that is the recommendation. My concern is that I still feel like the ride is a bit too stiff even with the compression adjusters turned all the way to the - sign. BTW the shocks have been tuned by @AccuTuneOffroad with the street tune. I’m thinking I may need to remove more preload so that’s why I haven’t take it to get aligned.
Before I installed the fox i was running king shocks and had some positive caster to help clear the tires.

If you have the adjusters all the way open, at correct 21" shock length and still experiencing a stiffer than desired ride, it could be a few things. E-rated tires can cause a bit of a stiff ride, and those 14" x 600lb springs may still be too stiff for the amount of weight you have up front. Shoot me a message, or contact your sales rep with us and we can look at some options for you.

I'm always curious to hear how people think the Fox compare to Kings. I know Accutune recommends Fox, but how was your experience?

I personally went with Fox as I could get them in 1 week from time of order, otherwise would have seriously considered Kings (35 week lead time!!!!)

They’re pretty much identical. You’ll never be able to tell the difference as long as valving and springs are the same. They are both progressive valved shocks.

That's the consensus I've seen searching around TW. Happy with the Fox so far!
