new to Tacoma, purchased a 2014, had been looking for a solution, and ran across this forum. scrolled most of the posts but didn't come across one that anyone had mounted a pewter tag, the bracket certainly seems rigid enough to support the weight

Welcome to Tacoma World. I am not positive I know what a pewter tag is. Can you post a link, or a picture or give me a little more info?

At 2lbs I believe it would no problem for the bracket to hold the weight of the tag. Just let me know if you would like to proceed and we can work out the details in a conversation.

Will this work for UK plates? The industry standard size front number plate is 520 mm × 111 mm (20½" × 4⅜"). Rear plates are either the same size, or 285 mm × 203 mm (approx 11"x8") or 533 mm × 152 mm (approx 21"x6").

    Thanks

US license plates have mounting holes that are 7" apart. According to the internet, the mounting holes for European plates are 8.25" apart. I can confirm what distance the US plate holes are apart but I do not have a European plate to double check that distance. It would be possible to replace the currently produced center horizontal support that the license plate mounts to with one that was designed to hold a European plate. Rather than just drill two holes in the existing version to match the mounting holes for the European plate it would be a much better idea to lengthen the horizontal piece to provide more support for the European plate. A one off bracket could be made to be used with a European plate. It would require a little bit of back and forth communication to exchange the necessary information but it should not be all that difficult.

WOW! Looks nice. Great job mounting it. Very clean. How sturdy is it with the extra length of the backing piece?

The only issue I see is the U.K. Plates are a thicker plastic material than the US thin metal plates. The Allen screws fit flush with the metal bracket so I think they’ll be fine. I’ll just double check the tightness every now and then.

There was just a tad extra threads available with the US plate so you should be ok but it does pay to check.
