So I’m tackling this job today and I got it all apart and cleaned up . I’m using mobile 1 grease from a tube that’s why everything looks pink . So in the picture there why looks like a coiled up spring (I don’t know how else to describe it ). Do I need to replace more stuff besides the wheel bearing assembly ? It looks kinda dry in there too with what looks like worn out grease .

That looks like a damaged axle seal

Definitely have to replace your bearing and I agree it looks like an axle seal or part of the axle if you’re putting everything new and you don’t have to worry about that stuff

If you go the route will you have to take the tool bolts out of your lower ball joint please be careful as they are fine thread and when they put my new framing apparently they cross threaded one of these bolts and when I took it out it came right out but when I put it back in it fully stripped I had to replace my whole Knuckle

100% dust seal spring that goes inside the lip of the rubber to provide tension against the axle shaft. Most seals have them, they can get knocked out when installing them, I always packed sticky grease inside the lip when I put them on, even in gear oil, it'll just break down and cause no issues.

Yes, you need to replace dust seal.

No , I will be lucky to get this thing rolling again …… can’t get the dust seal back on , seems like the shaft maybe is sticking out farther ? And not letting the dust cap go down far enough or idk

Both of those parts are fairly critical to the long term life of your hub / bearing. The seal is most critical. You need a new one. If the dust cap won't go back on, what is preventing it from seating?

No matter how I tap the dust cap it always goes crooked and gets jammed or gets crooked some place else , I’m not sure if it’s the cap is bent or tweaked somehow or if the hub is wacky. I have tapped , smacked and hammered it every which way it does not work . I’ve spent all day in 90deg weather trying to do what I thought was a few hour job lol .

I've occasionally had that same problem. Filing or belt sanding a bevel into the leading edge of the cap sometimes helps solve that problem.

Take the CV out of the back of the hub. Installing the ring and a new seal will be easy. When you get to the dust cap, hit the edge of the cap and hub side with scotchbrite or fine sandpaper to get it smoother. It’ll go. Slowly tap around in a circle to get it to slide back in.
