I do intend on boxing the frame at some point. What are the benefits of the solid mounts?

Just weld your door sill to the sliders. Problem solved.

How are its tail lights attached though? Toyota really screwed the pooch on the tail light assemblies in these trucks. How could it just eject itself under normal driving conditions like that?

Pretty much but the video show's the true nature of how it got ejected. Yes that tail light was damaged prior to that and the bolt parts were broken off. That whole side is a wee bit pancaked from riding a gulley.

I was wondering where I saw it originally, and remembered it was on Jeff’s YouTube. What’d you end up doing for the rear or have you decided?

Currie. But I got the jeep for now. I got a decent stock limited slip that I've been running since. Need to tuck more into the "truck mod savings" account to get the currie but I'm also going to be regearing to 5.29s as well in the front so that adds cost too. Decided to buy the wheeling rig so I can save to regear as well as have the truck down for a few weeks while I redo the rear suspension & do all the JD front stuff. The XJ I can tag here and drive for a tad while I get the truck together. In the mean time I'm getting custom front bumper and sliders made then a rear bumper.

    Currie F9
ARB comp 40 spline chromoly axles
    FF 73" wms to wms
    wilwood superlight brakes
    1350 yoke
    5.29 gears
nodular iron housing with upgraded pinion support bearing.

I know I'm missing a few things on the build but it's not cheap.

Taco will still get wheeled the Jeep won't be able to do a lot that I'd want to do. 2 different rigs for 2 different scenarios wheeling. Taco is also going to be the crawler hauler.

Can my taco haul this? :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

only a short two hour drive from here and a cool 80k brand new. Tail lights even have heims and are non-ejectable. I’ve heard no trimming for 35’s either, but who knows if that’s true.

That's not even close to the 80k price. If that's the build I'm thinking it is that one was 150ish. Jake makes some nice buggies. I'm more a fan of the WOD jeep based ones

Get some F9s under it with 10.5 RG and an all al. LSX with th400 and a single speed scs tcase and you might not weight too much to haul it with the taco.

If I'm building a balls out buggy it'll be something like this from WOD this was a cool $200k+

One of the problems with the tail lights is that folks sometimes use the wrong screws in them. There are two different length 10mm’s in the tailgate jamb area and if you use the longer ones in the taillights when you tighten them they bottom out and then you break the tab off of the taillight. After that all it takes is a good bump to make the taillight fall out…ask me how i know
