New 3.5l V6 Land Cruiser has over 400 horsepower and close to 500 pounds of torque. Think the next generation of Tacoma might have a version of this engine? Anything is possible but if I had to guess it would have closer to 350 horses and maybe 400 pounds of torque at the most. If it even came close to those figures I would be kissing my 3rd gen bye bye in a heart beat. And imagine what could be done with aftermarket goodies...

Probably not since that seems to be the motor for the next tundra, I’d imagine the Tacoma will get a turbo inline-4.

The next gen tacoma is 100% getting an turbo 4 cylinder and the full size trucks and SUVs are getting the twin turbo v6 (possibly with hybrid power)

You'll probably find out next summer when the 2023 4Runner is released. Assume it will share an engine with the Tacoma. If they go i4-turbo I think I'll hang on to my V6 for a long time.

I've been wondering if Toyota will ever turbo (or supercharge) the 2TR motor. Not sure how far they could push it to improve upon the performance of the current 3G Taco, tho.

The interior looks good. There does not seem to be much room for the driver and front passenger.

The hood looks like Toyota borrowed it from the Ford Ranger with those twin bulges.

I would like a v6 twin turbo tundra with 400hp 400 torque and 20-24 mpg.
Current tundra drinks more gas per month in cost than the owners truck payment. (So Cali commuter)
Electric trucks are in the conversation as gas at the pump just cost me $76 to fill up my Tacoma.

Toyota is relying heavily in it's proven synergy drive mated to a 2.5 L Atkinson cycle engine for it's mid size autos and suvs. These power plants produce excellent fuel economy, 219-302 hp and smooth power characteristics. I would expect putting a turbo 4 in a Tacoma would be an about face!

The interior looks plenty spacious compared to the third gen taco. And the land cruiser has had the two bulges in the hood for the last couple generations

Probably, the console looks like it takes up too much of the usable space. There isn't anywhere to put a purse. I think it's the Tahoe that has a place to store a purse. I don't care about that, but women do. They buy Lexus SUVs.

Will this be what the Tundra interior layout looks like? I like the two level dash design.

The hood looks more pronounced on the 300. I like it, but I like the hood on the Ranger.

If they put the 3.5L twin turbo in a Tacoma I will be at the dealership "Take My Money PLEASE!!!!"

But I can also see them putting the 2.0L twin turbo from the Supra in it. But why not offer both?

I have one in my RAV4 Hybrid and can honestly say I'm pretty much blown away by it. Commute about 60 miles/day partially on I-95 and some side streets. In the winter I'm averaging 38 mpg and in the warmer weather like now, I can't get under 40 mpg and usually 42-44 mpg.

It is QUICK too! And smooooooth.....When the engine shuts down and kicks into all electric drive you feel nothing, same when stopped in electric mode and take off again. No sudden startup of the ICE, but instead the electric motor silently gets you moving and if needed, the ICE kicks in without any drama. Makes my friends' Jeep with auto start/stop seem crude by comparison (hers is 4 years old, maybe new ones are better?).

The 2.5 four can be a bit coarse but overall, I'm pretty blown away by this vehicle. I would be ALL OVER a Tundra with a hybrid in a heartbeat.

2L in all the regular Tacoma’s and the 3.5L reserved for the Pro model?

They need to do something more than just slapping on some non adjustable shocks and a few cosmetic goodies to distinguish a “Pro” from the others.

Curious and lazy...sorry...Has anyone done the research on why every motor seems to be going turbo. Given the likelihood that they might fail some kind of improvement must have been accomplished since the "olden days". 100k miles was a dream for a turbo life, No?
Oh and the new Tundra with a twin spooler and hybrid will likely be my next vehicle. That seems to be a very proven motor.
