Phone Mount Location

Does anyone know if there are concerns with drilling and tapping into this spot for a possible drill-down phone mount? Just curious what’s under there that I should be worried about or if anyone has done something similar in this exact location TIA

It is for a Gen2, but it works for a Gen3. With no drivers side grab handle, it is even more clean on a Gen3.

 

I did a Pro Fit mount to the right of the HVAC controls. No drilling required but vibrates a bit around 40 MPH due to a driveline vibration.

I think @SpikerEng is selling his Ultraguage mount soon. Maybe adapt it for a cell mount?

 

I use a scosche cell phone magnetic mount there and it’s just a 3m sticker. Works just fine, I commute 50 miles a day and drive the NJ parkway at 80mph with no vibrations or anything

 

I use the hondo garage unholy mount. It can be mounted on any of the air vents. Only downside is the vent can’t be adjusted after it’s mounted.

You could probably install a RAM mount ball there.
I have designed my own RAM mount plate for above the stereo for 5 separate spots so I personally don't require another spot to mount devices.

 

With the new version, you can adjust, just not fully close. I’m selling the 2 I had for a few months before I sold my truck.

 

Popped that side of the dash off drilled a hole with a #10 drill bit. Attached a nut on the underside and ran all wires behind the gauge cluster and through the steering column.

 

Forgot to add that I put a 1 inch ram ball mount there.
