    I just installed a fuel pump and filter upgrade kit from URD with 255lph 40psi pump. It fixed my P0171 and 174 problem but I still get a slight pinging noise and don’t know if my spark plugs have been replaced in a while if ever!! Just got the truck last week. It’s a 2006 4x4 4L V6 and I wondered what the most replicable spark plug to get would be that would compliment the fuel pump upgrade kit?

    When you pull the plugs, if you have 2 different types of plugs, they probably haven’t been changed.
    They come from the factory with 2 different plugs. 1 type on each cylinder head.

    Why? No one knows.

    As for plugs. I’d stick with OE plugs.
    Unless you are running a power-adder (Turbo/Supercharger or other engine modifications)

    Your stock plugs should be changed every 30k according to the manual. But theses trucks seem to run great for longer distances.also wouldn’t hurt to clean your throttle body and MAS.

    So you say there are two different types of plugs. Which two do I get for a 2nd fen V6? Because I really doesn’t these suckers have ever been changed haha

    Two different brands is what I believe were installed at the factory. You don’t need to continue to follow that trend...just go to the spark plug change link posted above and buy six of the Toyota ones.

    Words to live by?

    I replaced the fancy plugs(
    $39 NGK LFR6AIX-11 - 6 PCSNEW
    NGK LFR6AIX-11) with the plane old copper Denso plugs(K20HR-U11)and did the throttle body and Maf.
    It changed the truck from around 300 miles per tank to 360 Miles per tank.
    Its was a nice Saturday morning project...

    Some web searching will help you find the right correct plugs for your engine.:thumbsup:

    20% range increase with a simple sparkplug change.

    Likely a place to accumulate $$ savings over time.

    Change at 30 kmiles with the basic Denso type plugs. No need for the iridiums or 2 prongs in the 1GR-FE engine.

    I did just like @SR-71A said.

    I’ve got over 30k on mine for sure.
    And NO, I absolutely don’t recognize going longer than 50k. Mostly because I like to recommend what should be done. What should be done, and what I do are 2 different things. Some guys might have run there’s for 90k. :eek:

    I went with densos but made the mistake of getting them from Amazon, I’m pretty sure they’re counterfeits. They looked so cheaply made, the U groove was off center on some.

    Just did the 2012 I purchased a few months ago.
    Ngk drivers side denso passenger side.
    Replaced with the cheap denso ones.
    144k on it and the plugs had a .07 gap.
    The denso held up better I think!

    yes it is!
    Also my last taco was a 4 banger so first time with the 4.0 v6.
    Plugs were pretty easy to do I’ve read the v6 was a pia but wasn’t bad at all.
