bed lights?

Another words your telling me what the dealer told me was partially true, that the truck comes pre-wired for the bed lights, but the dealer that has to finish the job. Truck was built in texas so i'm ruling out port installed and i certainly didn't do it.

Considering that the OEM bed light kits can be had for less than $60, the difference isn't that great. I would go with OEM.

 

All of the 20-21 Tacomas come pre-wired for the bed lights. (The Access Cabs don't have the dash switch (and maybe the relay) but the rest of the wiring is there.)

"Port installed" is a manner of speaking. For domestically produced vehicles, regional distribution centers take the place of the port. The point is, these aren't installed on the assembly line.

 

Glad they are working out for you. I've had mixed luck with Amazon knock-offs. FYI for anyone else considering these, the Toyota OEM version was $49.05 at BAM Wholesale when I ordered on 5/20. To me it was worth a little extra $$ to get the OEM parts.

Matgecko is a really awesome vendor. After I posted early last week about how I thought his bed lights were nice I ordered his under Hood light kit Tuesday since I had the OEM bed lights already. I got it yesterday (Saturday)and installed it in about an hour taking my time.
It's all very simple and good quality. Easy instructions that the wind blew away on me half way through and I still was able to do it just fine.
I tested it out last night at 10pm and man they are bright. It's actually 2 led light strips that you run side by side width of the hood lining just behind the rubber seal.

 

When/how are the bed lights activated? Do they turn off immediately or time out in a little while after the truck is turned off?

 

The price break is bigger than the $20 difference between the OEM and the nock off lights. Free shipping and bonus Amazon points if your a prime member make that price difference bigger. I’ll always try to buy OEM, especially on critical parts.

 

That’s an insane high price, I saw that switch listing for around $49-59 when I looked last year. Are they jacking up the prices for parts like they are for the trucks????

For an Access Cab there is information for installing the switch and relay on Page 8 (see the posts by @Blackbeard83).

 

Mine will either time out, or they can stay on as long as you want....tailgate needs to be open.

 

Mine turn off after a period of time if all of the doors are closed even if the tailgate is down. To keep them on you need to use the switch on the dash.

Why is that soo clean, needs a Lil dirt in there? To clean for any truck

 

Is there a pinswitch in tailgate then to keep the lights on when tailgate is open?

 

I really like this. If you could be so kind as to what exactly you bought. Interested in the light package and the molle pieces. Also do those molle side pieces use the OEM tie down bracket?

My 17 has these. It's a Pro, though not sure if they were included with that trim.
