Hahahahaha! I’m not even upset about the wheels, it’s more the principle and about the underhanded way these dealerships operate. You can’t tell me the tech didn’t know what he did. Just be a man and say you effed up and let me know. I’m a pretty level headed guy. I understand you get more bees with honey than vinegar, so I will go in and play their game and kiss their behinds and take what I can get. I’ll ask for new wheels, fully knowing I’m not getting them. I’ll then ask for a parts credit and if they don’t do that I’ll ask for a refund on the services rendered which I think is pretty fair. I will not however agree to having them have a third party “fix” the wheels and me leave my truck at the dealership and take a loaner vehicle for a week or two while they hold me hostage. If they don’t agree then so be it. I’ve bought more than a few vehicles from them and just won’t buy from them any longer. Either way I win.

OP, here's an old thread... It all depends on the dealership. (Check #46).

See what they have to say, maybe ask for a refund amount and then purchase some aftermarket wheels?

I had discount tire screw up a few of my OEM wheels. I ended up getting new aftermarket wheels at cost(still sucked), but then sold the scratched rims to someone and I ended up ahead. It was a shitty situation that turned okay at the end.

Does anyone know what happens when you fill out your survey negatively about rating your dealership service experience? Do the dealerships or Toyota even really care about these or is it just bulls$@t ?

I figured as much. Appreciate everyone’s comments who actually contributed constructively to this thread. We’ll see on Saturday what the outcome is.

Just got back from the dealership, I was nice as pie. They took pics of the wheels and gave me a check for $267.00 which was the cost of the mount, balance and alignment. They apologized and I left a happy camper.

Thanks for taking the time to come back an post how it all worked out. Not terrible at all.

What are your plans? Keep the wheels with the scratches and live with it? Replace the ones that are scratched? Or look to have them repaired by a specialist?

It may seem contrary to the way people like to handle things nowadays but the only thing you can control is who you are and how you respond. Good on you for handling it professionally ... And, as long as you are happy with your resolution that is all that matters.

Could someone put red circles around the scratches in OPs pictures, I seem to be missing them.

Just going to keep them the way they are, the scratches don’t bother me. The only thing that annoys me is when I pay good money for a service and people aren’t held accountable when they screw up. I was impressed at how well the dealership dealt with the situation and made things right. Just gonna put the cash toward a new softopper. Definitely happy the way things turned out.

I would imagine that could buff out, but that's definitely annoying!

I filled out one with 3 stars once. The dealership called me a day or two later and asked what they could do to make it right. Not sure how typical that is though.
