If you reference RSIs assembly video I think they suggest a solution to help address the car wash issue. But I don't recall what it was.

They suggest lining part of the vent with butyl tape iirc. I think the corners,

Thanks guys, I found it! I'm wondering if I could 3d print a catch and run a line down for drainage. Kind of like the bakflip if you've seen those.

Just got an email with my tracking information. It looks like my EVOa should be arriving on Monday. Hopefully I can get it together by next weekend.

I tried this and I still get a bit of water intrusion. Not a ton, but I do need to open up the cap and wipe it out after a wash. I don't mind the trade off for less dust.

Update: It seems a container has landed! - I received mine yesterday. It is not working. It is just sitting there in the box... :D

Hopefully I'll get the assembly started this weekend.

I'll be happy to post my process of prep, sealing and install. Any big tips from those of you who have come before??

    - I recall someone saying it was best to leave the rear panel (the one with the access door) off until the cap is on the truck, for example...

Did anyone use silicone on the joints?

    Thanks!

Yeah, car washes will cause it to leak through the vent.

I just went through several rain storms with mine and no issues from those.

So I got my smartcap earlier in the week. But didn't have the time to assemble until today. A few weeks back I went ahead and seal off holes around the truck with butyl tape to prep for the cap arriving. I also bought some silicone to put under the bed rails and at the front of the bed under the support rail.
    20210619_143658.jpg 20210619_142608.jpg
I cleaned the body and bed rails with rubbing alcohol before putting down the silicone. This stuff started to dry quick so work quickly. Once I placed the bead I put the rail back on the body.
    20210619_145817.jpg 20210619_145328.jpg
Once they were back on the truck I started shoving butly tape in the corners of the bed where I could see light.
    20210619_150510.jpg 20210619_150520.jpg
    20210619_152310.jpg 20210619_152334.jpg
    20210619_152732.jpg

I started to put the cap together this morning. Fairly straight forward, I didn't take any assembly photos as the RSI video pretty much covers it. I'll add that the instructions need to be updated. They call for a 10 & 13mm socket/wrench but I never used a 13mm but did need a 17mm for the bolts holding the cap in place.

I would also suggest having a rubber mallet near by to love tap the side panels into place. I am also not a fan of the solution to attached the front and rear panel to the roof/sides. You will most definitely need a wrench to pull the caps out as almost none of the were finder tight. I would prefer if they didn't come pre-installed and just came in a bag. It would easily save 20min during assembly

Once i got the cap installed I put a bead on silicone on the outside seams.
    20210717_124214.jpg 20210717_124146.jpg20210717_125611.jpg

Overall a fairly straight forward process. Should have at least two people. To assemble and install. The locks seem fairly cheap so I keep a lookout for RSIs solution in the future.

I can't seem to find a official solution anywhere, but the instructions for the third brake light want you to put the wiring harness through the bed light hole. But I am unable to do that because I have the bed lights installed. Does anyone have an idea, something that would ideally keep a nice appearance?
    20210717_124232.jpg

And lastly my handle and third brake light came a little scuffed up. Going to find out if I can get replacements. It doesn't exactly bother me but on a nearly $3500 product I would expect better.
    20210717_132708.jpg 20210717_132724.jpg

I will also be buying some edge trim for the lip on the rear panel. I can see how that will get annoying or hurt.

Thanks to @OffroadAlliance.com for the great customer service during these shipping issues.

I am supposed to be getting rain most of tomorrow so I should be able to update on how watertight it is.

EDIT: Had some heavy rain last night, woke up this morning and the bed was mostly dry except for a couple drips in the corners near the front of the bed. I drove to work and checked again and now there is a good bit of water. I am having trouble finding the source. I know that its coming from the corners but I can't seem to figure out exactly where.

Did anyone else encounter a similar issue?

Been on for a bit, haven't gotten a great picture but here it is. Overpriced Toyota tonneau seals are not working great, and it doesn't like auto washes, but overall it's great and I'm happy!
