I got the Valley Tune and I'm really liking it. I have one small irritation with it, but it's really minor. I did @EagleUSMCRet 's truck and he drove out to CO on it and he says he really loves it. It definitely makes the truck more enjoyable to drive rather than yelling at it to be in the right gear or whatever.

I can't remember. I'll say it again, just in case: On an incline, cruising in 6th, you give the truck a little throttle and it downshifts to 5th. That part is great, but it's not always enough. To get it to drop to 4th you have to give it 75% throttle. Just seems a little much. You get used to it. I warned Russ about it, and he said he noticed it while driving out to CO, but it didn't bother him.

Bingo! That is my biggest gripe as well. It is especially apparent over here as I literally go "uphill both ways" on the H3 to and from work each day. When I first start to go uphill, it kicks down to 5th smoothly, then I just slowly lose power/slow down until it decides it wants 4th. I should be able to maintain the same throttle pressure and it kicks down to 4th before I lose too much speed/power...instead, I have to increase throttle pressure significantly or someone would probably rear-end me on the freeway. Very frustrating...almost to the point that I've thought about removing the tune.

Edit: my other complaint is that it likes to hold 4th a bit too long after cresting the hill too. I'll actually be well over the crest and going downhill for a fair distance before it shifts up to 5th and 6th.

Bingo! It's not enough to make me want to remove it. Yet.

The holding 4th thing I've noticed, but the truck would do that to me stock fr time to time.

It doesn’t annoy me… when the down shift or upshift occur… it is smoother than stock… I like that.

I agree that it is definitely smoother than stock, but I would hit 4th way sooner on the stock tune. Although I would also actually hit 3rd going uphill over here on the stock tune as well, which doesn't happen anymore on the new tune (a good thing). Glad you are liking it.

Have either of you noticed any clunking at slow speeds, kind of like axle wrap? When I take off from a start and have to let off the gas quicker than usual, I'll sometimes get a clunk from the rear after letting off the throttle. That never happened for me on the stock tune.

The parts diagrams that most of these online parts places display really drive me crazy. They're not even close to what the dude behind the counter sees. And it makes it really hard to find what you're looking for. A plastic coolant fitting broke on my truck and I'm looking for it on McGeorge. I think I find it and order it. I did look at some pictures on other sites and thought it was right (trying to remember what the part looked like). It was wrong. There's another part that comes up in the diagrams, but the drawing looks nothing like it. I FINALLY discover that Sheehy of Fredricksburg displays the good diagrams. Figure out it's the part that looks nothing like it. Ridiculous. Why they do this?

    Yeah
I have the same concerns about long term wear and tear, but i just like the peppiness of the ov tune so much better that ill risk it. No new mods really, bought a fridge for the bed and modded the transformer to always stay at 400W, also rewired the cig lighter for 12v constant. Its been awesome for the beach! Side note... Crawl control totally saved my ass on the beach today! Got stuck trying to drive up a 2ft bank with mts sand mode on, then cc backed me right out like it was nothing. Pretty neat.

I tend to diagram hunt and then call the McGeorge Parts department and have them confirm, I've only been right 3 out of 7 items I've ordered...
