Toubleshooting Dual LED Switch

Hey guys,

I recently wired up a light bar and two ditch lights to a Dual Led Switch. The lights work but I'm having some issues.
Both switches engage both lights, and the backlighting on the button never turns off, even when keys are out of ignition.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I've looked all over the place.

Disclaimer: I don't know anything about car electrical so there may be some stupid error here..

• The two diagrams on top are provided by the dual-switch manufacturer. There are some reviews on Amazon saying it's wrong, and some saying it worked correctly.
• The yellow wire on the dual-switch is (in theory) an optional 'dash light' that lights up the button when I turn my stock headlights on. I never connected that as I identified the issue before getting that far.
• The two diagrams at the bottom left were provided by the wiring harness company. Both harnesses ran to individual switches. Both worked perfectly prior to being cut. When cut, they both had three wires running to each button: Red, Black, and Blue. (ground, 12v, trigger)
• I've shown how I ran the 6 wires coming from the two harnesses to the 5 wires coming from the dual-switch. Essentially, running both harness 12v powers (red) to the dual-button 12v power (green), both harness grounds (black) to the dual-button ground (black), and each harness trigger (blue) to one of the dual-button triggers (red and blue).
• My wires are butt connected and individually taped. A short seems unlikely.

The confusing end result: Both switches engage both lights, and the backlighting on the button never turns off, even when keys are out of ignition. I can't figure out how I would have wired it so that both switches engage both lights...

If I mistook the harness power wires for triggers and ran them both to one button's trigger, only one button would engage both lights and the other wouldn't work at all. None of the dual-switch wires are spliced to each other so I can't figure how both switches would engage both lights. Youtube University is sparse on this dual-switch topic. This company's single switches have 4 wires instead of 5 and plenty of videos.

Make sure you didn't confuse wire #4, and 5? Got them backwards?

• Run switch ground and switch dash illuminator to a dash light powered add-a-fuse such as brake lights.
• Run 12v power through fused line to an ignition source such as cig lighter?
• **Cap off 12v powers and grounds coming from harnesses? Or connect red and blacks of individual harnesses to maintain the circuit?**

 

Not brake lights at all. Any dash switch. Like fog lamp switch.
Cig lighter wire, yes. Not the fuse. It's always ON.
Cap off 12+ and grounds coming from harnesses.

 

Add-a-fuse to any of these: 2A fuse if you can find one, 5A tops on the added fuse.

Again, thanks. So please excuse my confusion but this is super helpful and I want to make sure I'm totally understanding you.

Ground wire and Dash illumination wire: run to what? An add-a-fuse? Fuse #3 (TAIL) looks like the dash illumination circuit? OR Are you saying to directly tap another switches illumination wire via a tap/splice connector or something?

12+ Wire: runs to what? An add-a-fuse to 1, 2, 7, 8, or 9 as you showed above? When you say IGN source are you talking specifically about Fuse 1 (IGN)?

On the add-a-fuse do I match the fuse size to the original fuse or can I add-a-fuse with the original 10a fuse and a new 2a fuse?

Either is fine.

Any of the ones I pointed out have power after IGN. Not specifically pointing out the IGN Fuse.
