But how many sets of brakes? And if you were, you’d do the calipers in pairs lol

Was it passenger inside that was worse?
I just replaced my brakes about two weeks ago. My passenger inside was a bit uneven, and in bit worse shape than others. Maybe it's a Tacoma thing??

yes passenger inside. Some people have told me that its a Tacoma thing. I havent looked much on here, but I would think its common.

    Most recent orders:
AC clutch kit from ebay - $47
    tensioner pulley bearing, 15x - $17
passenger caliper from Rock Auto - $86 shipped, new

Hopefully these take care of my "issues". Only things left would be to install 0.75" rear wheel spacers, trim 3rd leaf from Dakar end, and do an oil change before the trip.

Could be as innocent as as setting itself from a get go (hanging on a pin) to bad piston/caliper. Changing caliper(s), especially if they're so inexpensive, it the way to go.
I'll do it at next brake change (25K if I'm lucky, lol).

BTW, We're doing a road trip as well. My poor turd gen is struggling pulling a trailer, although somehow managed it all the way to UT.

This is exactly where I want to go in Moab! How is the trail getting there?

How long will you be there? Maybe until August 15th?

Was a bit gnarly in a few spots, wife freaked out here and there, our puppy puked at some point (not Cody- he took it like a champ), but I've made it ok on 33s. I'd say it gets dark Blue in some spots. You'll be fine on 35s. And the views are SO worth it!!

    We're leaving on Saturday.

3/4 things completed. Still need to replace caliper in the next 2-3 days. Also, AC clutch replaced, but no AC. Will try one of those bottle refills before trip, but not a huge priority (ill still make it without AC)

going to try to refill AC low side tomorrow morning with my neighbor. If he doesnt have any r134a, then I might try picking up one of those recharging bottles for $50.. Shop quotes near me are in the $175+ range to evap and recharge the whole system

Now that I have brakes again, I can drive the truck more. gotta cycle things to get away from lifter tick. Only need to change oil, recharge freon, and lube uniballs/driveline and I should be good :fingerscrossed:

as @geekhouse23 said, it's always something

I'm curious on how well those rotors perform.

I ended up canceling the order. I like the company, but needed it faster. Order from them if you think you might be needing pads and rotors soon. Not if you're going on a trip in 2 weeks
