I've got a 3300lb travel trailer that I pull with my 3rd gen manual transmission.

Reverse doesn't really seem geared for this, and I feel like I'm putting a lot of wear on the clutch (not riding it constantly, but even just blipping it seems to be a lot).

I would love to use low range for backing up, but I'm guessing I will just tear up the transfer case if I do any maneuvering on pavement right? In older trucks I recall a lot of wheel hop doing this, but I wasn't sure if newer ones had compensated somehow with differentials.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hmm, seems like the DIY mod is pretty dang complex, and the premade harnesses are no longer sold?

Is it that hard to get it rolling on pavement? Or you going uphill? As long as you aren’t turning sharp you will be okay. Especially if you can get it mostly straight before reversing. Once you feel the hop it’s too much traction and things can break

I think he does pre-orders and then when he gets enough interest then he builds a batch. I ordered mine, I think, last September and got it in January/February.

X3 on the 2WD low mod. Life saver if you tow any kind of trailer. Install was about 2 tall boys, 10mm ratchet and small plastic prybar.

I’ve used it multiple times now and absolutely love it!

Kind of hard going straight when trying to maneuver a trailer at low speeds.

Install wasn’t hard at all. If I can do it with my sausage fingers, anyone can.

Thanks for the tag. 2lm is what you want. Either DIY or my PnP harness. I definitely discourage cutting of factory wiring, especially for this one since there isn't much room to work in that location, and there isn't a lot of slack.

The next batch of the PnP harnesses are ordered and I expect to get a notice they are ready to ship in the next week or two.

Cool. Is this in any way a warranty void risk? I'm guessing if it's something questionable I can just remove it?

100% reversible to stock. The only way it would cause issues is if you had problems with the 4x4 system (bad actuator or sensor) and brought it to the dealer for waranty work before removing it.

+1 for 2lo! I was using 4lo for my travel trailer for awhile until i happened across the 2lo group buy. Awesome upgrade.
