    Change the gasket?

Isn’t it just drain and fill?

When I change my differential oil I change the crush washers on the plugs. I don’t plan on unbolting that faceplate ever unless I was changing gears. Am I missing something? Wouldn’t be the first, or last time, lol.

Consider yourself fortunate that you had a seep so you could discover you are 1 quart low.

No, but in the past if I had a leak or a seep I just put a new gasket in there. Plus it gives you a look inside to see how things are wearing. It does not take a lot of time. If I have no leak or seep, it does not get changed.

Yes to a '20 having similar thing. Not calling it an issue because I'm not truly worried about. Got it checked out by dealer who confirmed it wasn't a leak (just to get it logged) and will continue monitoring. Hasn't gotten bigger or leakier since I took the picture few months ago. No diff howl or other popular complaints.

Not on the taco though, it’s pretty complicated to change the gasket isn’t it?

I see that you are MT so to my knowledge those also use the bigger rear end.

Any diff oil seepage found should be followed by a check of the diff pressure relief valve, a proper torque of all fasteners in the proper sequencing should be performed, the diff oil level and axle oil seals should be checked for leaks as well and any stains cleaned for future follow inspection.

The diff gasket replacement is an intrusive repair, and not a 30 minute job, and no seep should cause the loss of a pint. It is best to avoid it if possible.

    Keep it clean, be safe

And I have the breather relocation mod too so it has no excuse to hold positive pressure. Honestly, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it unless you're actually dripping diff fluid. My dealer didn't even attempt to retorque the bolts and I didn't feel like continuing to tell them how to do their job. At least I have it noted and a lifetime deivetrain warranty from them.

My 18 had the diff seep. Sprayed it with fluid film which covered it all up. Same with my 20.
After reading a bunch of these threads I had almost let it bother me, but then the fluid film saved the day.
