Which 3rd Gen Taco trims have remote start?

Just wondering which 3rd gen taco come available with remote start

 

just picked up a 2021 Army Green TRD 4x4 Off road, HAS remote start. But the Toyota app says "Remote Connect" expires in 1 year, which I have used to remote start the truck. Not sure if that means just the Toyota app or my key fob remote start

I had the option in my remote connect app, but it always said there was a problem on my 2020 Off Road with the Premium Electronics. I never got it to work and let the subscription lapse. Not that it matters anyway, Toyotas all turn off when you open the door if it was remote started.

 

Agree as an owner of other brands prior. However, it still is useful for cooling off the interior during the summer or heating it up during the winter.

I agree though, because other makers have figured out how to smoothly transition, but Toyota has not. My Dodge could do it, and my wife's nearly 10 year old Kia can do it. It was one of the biggest sacrifices I made when trading my Charger for the Taco. Love it anyways though. Now, I also wish there was more info on whether they revoke the remote start via keyfob if you cancel/terminate Toyota Connect services.

 

I have a 2021 TRD off road with regular audio. I cancelled my connected services & I can confirm the key fob no longer works.

 

That's such horseshit that I struggle to believe it even though I don't doubt you at all. Definitely one of those things that makes me go "ughh".

 

Yeah, I'm not too happy about it either. My truck has the necessary hardware required for remote start & I paid over 30 grand for it, but Toyota wants me to pay for a subscription to use it.....come on???

The remote start doesnt stop when the connected services does. Hit lock button 3x on fob and if equipped it will start. My 2020 offroad did not come with it. You can buy aftermarket pieces if you want it though.

 

The key fob remote start has nothing to do with/without connected services subscription.

Lots of people have said that their remote start still works after the trial period has ended. Others have had the opposite happen. Very confusing.

 

I have (had) 3 2020 Toyotas. My Tacoma did not come with the remote app so I have never had remote start. My wife's Highlander (which we just got rid of) and my daughter's Rav4 both have remote app with expired subscriptions and the key fob remote start still works.

I have read many replies just like this. There's a lot of confusion & mixed experiences. If you read thru that whole other thread, you'll see what I mean.

 

When did you buy your truck? They give you a complimentary one year free trial.

 

Within the year, but it’s not on my radio. Says not compatible with my truck.

I have separate fobs for the dealer installed remote start in my truck. The normal key fob starts it though with 3 presses of the lock button. Now I am wondering if I even had to pay for what essentially seems like an aftermarket starter.
