    Same.

Best part is when they give you and excuse that obviously makes no sense. They once tried to tell me my misfire was due to it not being the stock grill. I was pretty speechless with that one. Lol.

@ 5 years and 113K it's going to be obvious whether or not the oil you pulled is new or used.
No need to waste your time sending it off unless you're unsure of your own opinion, or have reason to believe the dealership (and your buddy) aren't going to make things right. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do you know it's 1.1qts low without draining and measuring what came out?

That plug being untouched is indeed a sign nothing was done. The machine would go off the cooler lines you posted. (Or the ones by the radiator if you have them)

Thanks for the info! (been waiting on a tech to comment)
The cooler lines on the radiator and on the tranny haven't been touched and based off the maroon color fluid I just pulled, its safe to say it wasn't touched.

    Likely.
We don’t really do flushes at work. But we do openly sell drain and fills. Why? Well our dealer doesn’t have the trans flush machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t have it either.

That's what they told me. They don't do flushes anymore and it's more of a drain/refill but used with a machine?

Looks like clamp marks to me. And if you went 113k miles assuming it was low from the factory without checking. It doesn't matter now.

No machine I know of for drain and fills. We do it by draining into a container and measuring what comes out and putting the same back in.

I just bought it back in April at 109k and nothing on service records show any transmission work done. That's what made me bring it in. The guy took it to the dealership for every oil change etc, but never had the transmission fluid changed.

OP FWIW. You may be stepping onto more hassle than what you gain.

Suggest to pull the DIY path with a drain and filter change. Follow the Temp Check procedure to get the proper level of fluid. Measure what you drain to use as a start point for the refill. Don't be surprised if you need to add more fluid.

The filter and pan gasket come as a set for less than $25. Fluid is a bit more expensive, but you could do the entire job in about 1 hour for less than $75.

Then find another shop for your service needs.

Its time to change it for sure, but I wouldn't assume it was low from the factory. Mine wasn't when I checked.

Like many have said, don’t flush, just do drain and fills. I’ve owned my ‘97 4Runner for 20 years and I’ve never done a trans flush to it, only drain and fills every 60K miles or so. With 235K on it now, the trans still shifts smooth and the fluid looks bright red and clean. It’s a waste of money to flush and it can actually do more damage than good from what I’ve read over the years.

The first autotrans Toyota for me was a used '05 Tundra, had a dealer do a 13q machine flush at 111k miles. Towed 4k lbs all over the Four Corner states for 6k miles, no problem.

The second autotrans was the used '07 V8 4Runner, same dealer did the 13q machine flush at 100k miles, towed 4k lbs all over the Southwest, my daughter still tows with it at 250k miles, no problem.

The third autotrans is the '08 V8 4Runner, same dealer did the 13q machine flush at 96k miles, towed 4k lbs all over the Southwest for 20k miles now, no problem.

    YMMV.

A line across the fill/flush plugs of a torque striping material will show the truth. At work we required nail polish when doing final torque of high voltage busbar (had to be Hawaiian Red, because if they weren't reading our requirements for marking, did they follow our tightening pass procedures, etc), but they do make high temp marking paint that does the trick. Something that cracks when it's tampered with so they can't give you the "oh, it lined up like that when we tightened it down" schtick.

Can anyone from Tacoma World tell me what the " proper procedure " for flushing a transmission actually is ?
I will let this post soak for 24 hours or so then reply back
Here is a pointer considering things got quiet
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-2nd-gen-transmission-pan-and-filter.726329/
Are there any guidelines to follow when you bring your truck into a shop to have the transmission flushed ?
Should the service writer be asking if the transmission has ever been flushed ?
Should the service writer be asking if you are noticing any issues ?
Should the vehicle be test driven first to verify the transmission is functioning properly when its cold and when it warms up ?
Are the techs scanning for codes before they flush ?
Shall we use 100k in mileage as an example ?

Yes turn around and leave with NO flush or tell them to drain & fill with a filter replacement/clean.

No where in your owners manual does it tell you to flush your transmission. Transmission flushes are a high profit unnecessary "service" offered by dealers to flush cash from your wallet.
