I definitely had the benefit of learning from the mistakes of others. It turned out just about perfect.

when i first put them on when absolutely fully flexed the tire just barely touched (2" spacer with 35x12.5" tire) not enough to even rub the sticker off. after that i placed a couple washers on outside of shock to move it in towards frame like 1/8" and i have seen no signs of touching since.

I’d have to run glass with a 12.5. My 10.5’s throw too much mud for me as is.

Needa find a wheel that will keep 285’s about where my current tires are.

I'm not fooling anyone, I have no idea what I'm doing beyond standard vehicle maintenance. Most of the previous modifications were done by previous owners. All maintenance done by local shop. Purchased at 228k miles for $3900; younger ~120k 2.7L engine installed at 230k for $9k...ouch. 31" Toyo Open Country M/T Replaced previous shocks/struts with KYB Monomax at 233k miles. Looks to have a 3" body lift in rear. Leaf springs seem to be sagging quite a bit. Currently have a rattling left front wheel (I'm told it's the CV joint and/or axle). Goals: Fix front left CV issue. (Diff drop?) Refresh leaf springs. Build a sleeping platform for comfort camping/base camp. (Auxiliary power?) Replace bench seat with 60/40 preferably or reupholster. Tackle more trails. Improve ride without excessive modifications to classic look. Debating winch/light bar. Don't break more things. Competing interests: Possibly want to buy a house(boat?) Want to enjoy the PNW non-motorized outdoors. Want to acquire pricey toys to propel myself down mountains.
What has someone else done to my Tacoma today? Attempted grand theft auto.

Now my key won't fit in the ignition.

Take the switch off the back of the ignition assembly, and then You gotta figure out a way to stop the steering wheel from locking.

Crazy how your temps got that high on the factory radiator. I’ve still got my factory radiator and it only ever gets up to 195 F max if I’m pushing it. Usually chills around 185-190 F.

Anyone know if the 2RZ pink injectors are the same as the 3RZ pink injectors in terms of how much CC they push? Toyota says they have different part numbers, but I’m curious if they’re the same or not.

I got to 212 F the other day and didn’t like it, pulling a camper, bed loaded, up a mountain though.

but get 200-206 regularly since I got my new radiator.

Before I changed my radiator and thermostat mine regularly hit 204F, seen it as high as 208F. I suspect that was from the thermostat being installed upside down at the dealership when I had the water pump replaced. I guess the tech missed that in the FSM.:tinfoilhat:

very nice man! That's awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to do this but with a turbo so actually be more "worth" the effort as it were. Still Im sure it feels great to get away from the closed loop area.

This really only works if you have 2'' or smaller diameter shocks like yours. 2.5's won't fit without a wider axle swap. So in some ways a 2.5 could be better.

As stated above, can't fit 2.5'' shocks really that way. And even with 2'' you will likely rub a bit when flexed out.
