OEM LED Headlight question

Can you specify which ones you want from factory? I ordered a TRD OR with the leds but didn't realise they weren't all black like the pro as the description clearly states "black trim"

 

good call, OP. I went with the pro version as well. Gonna be honest, I don’t give two shits about what people want to tell me about MY truck. Until they pay for it, I will do with it as I please!!

How are you guys selecting the pro vs non Pro versions? Is this after market?

 

I just looked up the pro lights. If you need part numbers, I can dig out the boxes if you want

 

I mean are you ordering it on the truck from factory? Or buying it from parts after?

 

I installed the non pros as I have an OR, not a pro. I don't care for the showy lettering regardless though. The 1" chrome strip is a non factor to me.

 

I just searched OEM TRD PRO headlights. Verified part number and called it a day

No, you have to pay the pro tax or swap after the fact. And if you’re going to swap to pro anyway then you have to decide if you are going to pay the extra $500 and resell the non pro led headlights or just get halogen and then a conversion harness (or hack your harness yourself)

I would probably learn to love the offroad ones because at $500 and no labor that’s the best deal.

 

If you want OEM lights and don't want the chrome on the non Pro lights, why not get those used in the Nightshade package?

 

I though the nightshade uses the same limited / sport / Offroad headlights with the outer drl chrome?

 

Finally got everything installed today. TRD Faux almost complete.

 

I understand why some are at conflict with putting on the Pro headlights, as they don’t wanna give off the impression of trying to pass their truck off as something it’s not.

The way I see it, it’s not bad. I mean, I’d much prefer it didn’t have Pro in it, front and center, but at least it is not the actual Pro badge for the truck. The headlights just happen to be a part that contain the lettering. Not quite the same as actually branding the truck as a Pro with a badge who’s only purpose is to announce to the world what truck model it is.

I don’t like chrome myself but the chrome on the non Pro model is so minimal and non issue.

 

Nightshade package does use the same headlight as the Limited, It has chrome. Why they did that is beyond me. I had too verify myself by watching a couple of youtube videos that showed the Limited with Nightshade package on it. Even the Tail Lights on the limited with Nightshade have chrome... Why, Why, Why....

 

They only made two different led headlights. Pro and one for everything else non pro. it makes sense to me at least for Tacoma wasn’t a need.
The tundra has three different led headlight versions, but they also have more trim levels and added cross trim levels. Chrome, smoked and pro for headlights

 

I have a Pro PS LED ( w TRD) and a custom blacked out non PRO on the DS, best of both worlds for a truck that is not a TRD PRO.
