    Hey everyone!
I apologize if this has already been addressed but I’m not on here often and didn’t find much in the search bar. My ‘17 off road has recently started to chirp.
I took it to my dealership, they told me it’s the high pressure fuel pump aka GDI pump which is a $2500 part. Any of you have this issue and change it out yourself? I was told it won’t impact performance but I hate listening to that noise.
Any tips to save some money/stop the chirping?

Some say that gas from different stations has made their chirp quieter, or louder. You might want to try a couple of tanks
from a different station if you haven't already.

I don't think I've seen anyone report that they have replaced the HPFP themselves.

According to the service manual, you'll have to remove the intake manifold.
Removing the HPFP doesn't look difficult.
Installing the HPFP is more involved.
You'll need Techstream to verify proper operation after the install.

Thanks. That’s more helpful than earplugs.

mine chirped loudly when it was new in 2016 . I used Lucus upper cylinder lube in the fuel along with premium ethanol free fuel and it went away and it has never returned .
Give the Lucus a try .

Thanks. I ran e free in Hawaii and never had this issue but that fuel is harder to find in Oregon. I’ll try it out.

If you can’t find anything more helpful here, I’ll send you free earplugs instead of 24¢ ones. Just so he wasn’t right. Mine are a lot nicer too

I have no experience with this chirping, but I can recommend using google (or another internet search engine) to search this forum. The site search is terrible. On google you can simply search on “tacomaworld [keywords]” and find whatever you want.

How many miles on that 2017 for it to chirp 2500. bucks I would try that lucus oil and go to the nearest airport or race track that sells 110 octane race fuel

@Miss_O_808 I have luck with Texaco only. Any other gas Aloha, HELE, or Costco all make the pump chirp. Took 2 tanks of Texaco to stop and it hasnt returned in 3 years.

Good luck never hurts to try, but TSB's usually only apply during the 3/36 Warranty period.

This TSB states 60mo/60k miles. Also vehicles sold, registered and operated in several states (Oregon being one of them) it says 84mo/70k.

It might come down to purchase date (edit: first 'in service date' if bought used), but I'd see if a dealer would do it as a good faith measure if you're right past the time frame.

For awhile I could minimize the chirping on my truck by only using Shell 93 vpower but it eventually came back and drove me nuts, was able to get it replaced while still under warranty. Sound hasn’t returned regardless of fuel type

I just spoke w the Service foreman at my dealership, he didn’t know about the TSB and claimed it’s only for one particular engine type. He’s checking to see if I have that engine. Not sure why that would matter but in the meantime I’ll get the Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube and see if that helps. Appreciate all the feedback, thank you!

*EDIT* I have the engine type so they’ll be fixing it for free! There’s also a new recall regarding brake lights just FYI. Really appreciate the information passed along here. Even the smart asses
