I installed cam gears with mine.

 

Cool, was it during the installation of the Procharger or after?
I’m assuming if it gives good results with the URD there’s probably a benefit.

 

Cam gears make a difference even in N/A applications. More effective exhaust scavenging improves everything but emissions cleanliness.

After adding MightyTacoMan's cam gears, my fuel economy jumped in the right direction a few points and the truck pulls a little harder at all RPMS. Can't wait to see what it'll do with a ProCharger someday.

 

Cool, you want to swing by and do mine? It's pretty deep on my "something I'll do later" list at the moment. I haven't really seen any before/after dynos on a boosted application to further motivate me to do them sooner. Doesn't seem worth the effort for 5HP or 2mpg with the power I'm already making.

 

I don't know man. 2mpg is like 40 more miles on a tank. And last I looked, gas isn't getting cheaper.

Plus...less detonation running more timing on the 1GR is kinda key for safer power, especially in boosted applications, but I'm no Torspd so won't trip over my words here. I do know my truck runs better than it did before and feel cam gears were a better bang for the buck than any other motor mod I've done so far.

My shop doesn't move (well, I don't want to move it) but happy to help you turn the wrenches at my place. It would be about 4 hours of our time. I got an HP Tuner cable, too, and JustDSM is in my contacts so hit me up if you need a hand.

I already had the cam gears in before I installed the ProCharger.

 

I still regret not doing a hellcat swap. Could be a fun project for a rainy day, the cam gears that is. I should probably get around to waiting for those..

 

Anyone with a 2nd generation on a stock auto transmission and procharger? Or has everyone upgraded their valve bodies? I found one youtube video of a company that had ran a procharger setup on a stock transmission for "a few thousand" miles.

How many miles? Feel any transmission problems? What do you mean tuned with hptuner? Do you mean there's some sort of transmission tuning done electronically?

 

125k miles on trans, probably 5k with Procharger. No issues so far.

Can I ask what changes you made to the transmission? Does your FJ have the same transmission?
