So I recently purchased a used '19 TRDOR with low miles. It came with a 2.5in/2in spacer kit. I bought some wheels and KO2s and it sits nice, but I want to upgrade to some coilovers. I was looking at the Eibach Stage 2 coilover kit (with rears.) That kit seems to be good for street and mild offroad, which fits my application. Not sure if I'd do AAL with the rear shocks or just leave the block. That is a conversation for another time. Another option is there are a set of Icon coilovers (non-resi) for sale used, locally. They are not even a year old and have about 10k on them. I know they are the "better" shock but I am hesitant based on reading people needing to rebuild them earlier/more frequently than they would like. Plus, the reason he is selling is because they ride stiff on the street. If I'd buy those, I'd also get matching rears. So any input on which way you would go and why? Cost would end up being similar, all said and done. I like the idea of an Icon set-up but the used fronts worry me as far as stiff ride and having them back off of the truck frequently for maintenance. The Eibach kit is relatively new on the Taco scene but seems to get good reviews from the research that I have done. And like I said, my offroading is limited to stuff on our property (open trails, fields etc.) And I don't want to compromise the street ride.

*I tried to post this in another section and got very little views, so mods feel free to delete that one.

To clarify, I'm not really asking about how to lift the truck. I've read through those threads a million times and will continue to do so. It is more a question of your opinion on going with the new Eibach set-up vs buying used Icons in the front (and new rears to complete the package.) I want to buy the Icons from the guy, but I just am a little scared t pull the trigger because 1) they are used - even though they appear to be in good shape. 2) many on here have said they ride rough on the street and that is why the guy is selling them. 3) they seem to be higher maintenance. So weighing the options.

IMO I would buy new that’s me. Ride is subjective really hard to say what’s good to some is not for others. I’m running 6112’s I’m super stoked. Eibach is a great kit as well.
    Good luck

Expensive racing shocks will always be more firm, their objective is to keep the tire on the ground where it has traction, not in the air where it doesn't.

If you don't want a firm ride, don't buy expensive racing shocks, used or new. Eibachs are not expensive racing shocks.

Love my Bilstein 5100's up front set at 2" with the stock coils. (Recommended by Bilstein). 1" rear block with my stock OR shocks. Drives like it did stock, without the Taco lean.

Now my 265/75/16 Duratracs don't look as big in there.

Is a 2.5in coilover w/o any remote resi really considered a "racing shock?" Pretty much every application for that particular shock I was considering were just on Tacomas that mostly live on the street, to mild offroading. It seems both set-ups serve about the same purpose, with the Icon being a higher-end product due to the ability to be customized more and rebuilt over and over, correct?

Ya, I know a few people with that set-up. I really was just looking to get a fully adjustable coilover rather than the "steps' for the standard 5100. But I haven't completely ruled them out. I was ready to jump on the Icons when I first saw them for sale, but after researching, I'm just not sure if it's the right move.
