and I only came in cause my VCS icon came on. (See your Dealer) also shows. Which they charge practically 200$ to take off if any real problems need to arranged. If the light comes off, it’s free:fingerscrossed:

maintenance only came on cause I exceeded 30,000..

:rockband: Should I stay or should I go?

Wow, that "Value" is expensive! My 2019 Tacoma only has 15k miles on it, but with many older vehicles that I’ve kept a long time, general maintenance was enough without the BS, and they were still in great shape at 10+ years and over 100k miles. Jeep use to have a stupid Mopar fuel injector cleaner for $200, and Honda one time wanted me to pay $75 for a safety inspection on a Civic with 12k miles on it!

You do have a five-year old truck, but still only 30k miles? Just looking at the list like “re-torque drive flange bolts” … really? That’s a concern? And really, they're putting on the list to check the floor mat? :)

I’d just have them change the oil and rotate tires if that’s needed. Possible to find another shop? Get a second opinion.

And funny how you can now finance it!

A lot of snake oil getting "INSTALLED" there.
On second look, 3/4 of the left column is horseshit, and either won't be done or damn sure doesn't need to be.

See what they'll charge just to have a look at the driver's floor mat and then split.

The check driver floor mats and torque the bolts is all part of the normal 30k service and it’s mentioned in the maintenance manual, you don’t pay extra for that. However they are charging for the BS ethanol treatment, coolant treatment etc

Yes. They're putting it on the list to make it all sound more impressive to get people to pay for it.

They always tell me they want to lube my propeller shaft bushings. I always tell them I'm not flying a helicopter and to have a nice day.

I got the same VCS prompt awhile ago. I don't think I'm going to bring it to Toyota because really, my truck is out of warranty anyway. It's a good reminder to check things over though. And wow OP that is quite the bill!

They didn’t even take off the VCS after all, there’s a “Code” and a wire that’s not communicating with my steering alignment but The guy that tried to help me oh I said that they will need to run a second diagnose and check every wire to see if that’s going to correct my situation which in end would’ve cost me 400 bucks Because one diagnose cost 195… So I just got robbed

I'm guessing that 30 second air filter replacement cost at least $70... surprised they didn't want to do the cabin filter too. When you mention VCS are you referring to VSC (vehicle stability control)?

Did they tell you what the code was?

It can be caused by a bunch of different things from a wheel speed sensor to the steering angle sensor, to maybe a loose gas cap...

Common cause is hitting a bad pothole or having a wheel alignment, and the VSC needs to be reset because the steering angle changed....

This thread has the method to reset it yourself with a paperclip.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vehicle-stability-control-system-warning.545186/

But if it comes on again...
go to any auto parts place that does the free computer code reading and get the code first,

and then post it here on Tacomaworld....

It will save you a lot of $$ from the stealership.

And if you ever do go back to the dealership, read the factory maintenance list for your mileage,
print it out and have them do only that.... unless they have REAL justification for other work to be performed....
you'll notice there are a few less things on that list...
things like Ethanol fuel system treatment... Fridge quiet AC protection service... Universal Coolant conditioner....
When you find out what those things are and what they added to the cost over what Toyota says should be done.....:spending:

And WTF is "Fridge quiet AC protection service" ??

    If you paid for that I hope it wasn't just them spraying something like;

    https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/climate-control/bg-frigi-fresh/

into your vents and fan and charging big $$$

@daks its cause my stupid ass left my keys in the ignition over night. Then once I got my new battery, thats when VSC icon came on. it’s been months since, so on my day off thought it would be a good idea to get it diagnosed cause Tacoma world said it’s under 2. But shit I got-gotten.

Your dealer is really trying to screw you. Just have the maintenance suggested in your owner’s manual. My dealer has tried the same stuff. Wanted to “burnish” my front and rear differentials at 30,000 miles. Tried it twice.

The steering angle likely needs to be calibrated. Common after battery replacement

I like the fact that they include checking the installation of drivers side floormat.
