What are the coolest remote and key upgrades for 2nd gens? My old factory ones work about 30% of the time with brand new batteries. Was 10% before the batteries. Looking on Amazon I have found several offerings that I really like but wonder what you have to go through to make them reliably work trouble-free. (Key Chips Etc.)?

My favorite out of the ones I know of is the type where the body is the remote and the key folds into it and flips open with a push of a button. Will these work properly with the 2nd gens? And if you don't mind sharing, is there a better idea as far as replacement remotes and keys?

I’d like to some how use a newer tundra key for my truck. Has the simple lock/unlock and alarm button in the handle of the key.

    anyone done that before ?

I like remote start systems, to have everything cool or warm before getting abord is a nice convince.

Well, my two Fobs are on their way. I checked with my dealer and they only want $144 for each keys chip programming! This compared to a locksmith at ??? info coming up

Fobs just came in yesterday and seem to be pretty good quality. We already have one of them programmed and working. It is nice to be able to lock/Unlock from the other side of the yard.

Now I have to order the proper cabling etc to program the G-Keys etc. So far I have $35 invested in two Fobs complete with flip keys.

I talked to a couple of locksmiths while weighing my options today. One was as high as the dealer and the other was much more reasonable and open about the astronomical charge.

He offered that they knew it was a rip asking so much for the process but that it was a matter of having the only water fountain in the desert. LOL

Well crap, I thought I was on to something but, is it back to the drawing board instead?!! The new key Fobs work fine at least so far.

I was researching the G chip programming thing today and found several videos show how to perform a key-in key-out door-open door-shut sequence that programs a new key. Waaaahoooo!!!! then NOPE :rain:
First will this work on my truck's year make and model?

Second, if so, where the hell is the little red car indicator everything relies on for procedural confirmation or communication.

What is it they say about "if it sounds to good to be true"?

I spent about $15,00 for a 2 pack of new ones that look like the OE's, from Walmart, and after about the 3rd attempt to program them, had both working fine, and have used the one for about...8 months, maybe...to date.....
