Caliber was a bit if a pain. No walk-ins for estimates, have to make an appointment. So I did and went back another day. Was 10 minutes late and had to wait 20+ minutes for the person. Both my fault, but a hassle nonetheless. This place was an ex Hummer dealer. Large, modern facilities that was like a ghost town. Cavernous and deserted. Hardly a person to be seen or heard and the lot was near empty. Every other body shop was bustling and packed. I got the feeling from that, that it was going to be high, but not $4500 high. Are they high?! Lol.

That no walk-ins, appointment only BS kind of annoyed me with some of those auto body places. Sounds like that place was getting high off their own supply. ;)

Congrats on the Tacoma and welcome to TW! I live in the state next door to you so I know what they put on the roads up here in the winter. Check to make sure that your truck has had the frame inspection and treatment done from Toyota. You should be able to call your local Toyota dealer and provide them with a VIN number and get the necessary information. You should have until 2022 or 2023 to have the inspection done but getting it done with a Toyota Dealership anti-corrosion application for the inner frame is necessary to trigger what is essentially an extended warranty on the frame. There are threads here on TW dedicated to the topic so I will not beat the subject to death.

Also, TW has buy and sell rules that prohibit anyone from selling until they have 50 posts. I know you technically were not putting your parts up for sale but I thought I would make you aware of it as the mods will remove a sale post for those who have not reached the minimum...

Thanks for the info. Luckily the truck was not driven much the last few years, and now I have it in SC. I know it had some level of undercarriage treatment, but I'll definitely have it looked at. As for the selling, thanks for the info. I can delete it is you think it'll be a problem. Just figured as I mentioned my new parts, some people might be looking for replacements.

I would just edit the last sentence out. If you are genuinely active for a week you will hit the post minimum. I think they now have a 30 day minimum wait time as well but I am not sure. Better to be safe than sorry and you can always post the stuff up for sale in a bit. Your intent is pure but why risk it?

Edit: I am not sure if the southern dealers even have a clue about the program but I would ask. I am not sure if the program extends to the warm climates.

I was wondering if anyone had some pictures or recommendations for aftermarket headlights that they've installed that provide a more "blacked out" look. I'm in the process of replacing all the chrome and I'm debating on the headlights. Nothing inherently wrong with them, but they are large and silver and I wouldn't mind a darker look to go with everything else. Thanks!

Most aftermarket headlights are not going to match up to what your OEM headlights can produce. That's just a fact. Also steer away from putting LEDs bulbs into halogen housing or ebay. If you are not massively concerned with light output than I would recommend looking into morimoto or other reputable companies.

    https://www.morimotohid.com/

Just know that good headlight prices have soard. Most used to be $240 and now companies are asking up to $1000 or more.

Another option is, if your current OEM headlights are in excellent condition you could always retrofit them and black them out. See here:

    Hope this helps.

That's quite a write up. I don't think I have that kind of time with two young ones around though. Thanks for the info!

Understandable! You could always buy a cheap pair and take a slow swing at it.

There's one more option I forgot to mention. You could apply lamin-x tinted film to the headlights? Pain in the ass but great result.

I really want a paint matched honeycomb grill. And alpharex headlights. And a sport hood. And the list could go forever. She’s come a long way since I first got her though. :D

I know that this post will not be a direct answer to your question and I can't help much with blacking out the headlights from personal knowledge. But I will pass along a couple suggestions.

You can always use your favorite search engine and use "tacoma world" and what ever other search term you want and it does a pretty good job of searching the threads on TW for results. At least better than the search function on the site.

Second, I will pass along a great thread that you might want to read. It is a long thread but the first post is continually updated so if you concentrate on the first page of the thread you will have the most important information in the thread. Much of the rest of the discussion rehashes the same stuff over and over. The thread is self explanatory but many owners give up functionality for looks in their quest for what looks best.. But the thread will detail how to make the most out of stock headlights and highlight some of the pitfalls of poor headlight replacement strategies.

No I don't have them, just came across them when I was looking for other stuff. I was also wondering about light output on them.

Looking good! What headlights do you have? I see you mention color match honeycomb grille, and I'm just finishing mine, getting ready to install. I'll post once it's finished.
