any how-to videos on how to replace these? I took a look at my '16 with ~ 90k miles and the front driver side is definitely toast

Floor jack with 4x4 wood block long enough to catch the radiator and front support. Take the nut off the bolt for the body mount, jack up just enough to remove and replace.

I just removed the OEM bushings from the front of the my truck. They are approximately 1 year old with approximately 10,000 miles on them. Overall, they don't look bad.

I replaced the OEM bushings with a set of Energy Suspension bushings (from kit 8.4109) that are noted/ described in one of my earlier posts. After driving over every speed hump in my neighborhood, twice, I can report that the metal-on-metal noise is gone from the front end. A few of the speed humps I hit harder than usual just to further test the Energy Suspension bushings.

Over the next day or so, I will attach the Go-Pro to the power steering cooler and make a second video showing how much the body moves around on the frame mount with the Energy Suspension bushings. The OEM bushings video created earlier and Energy Suspension bushings video with be joined together for a side-by-side comparison.

In short, the Energy Suspension bushings have totally eliminated the metal-on-metal sound while traveling over speed humps.

Nice! I’ve had this metal on metal noise since my truck was new.

How was the removal and installation of the bushings? Thanks.

This guy made an excellent step by step write up on how to remove the inner fenders allowing you to access the bushings.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...at-noise-may-not-be-your-leaf-springs.464993/

This Youtube video, or at least the first 8 minutes is an excellent guide for removing and replacing the front bushings.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch8f-uEy2Ok&t=195s

Using the write up and the Youtube video, the removal and replacement of parts took me a good 2 hours. I ordered only the front bushings and associated parts noted in this video.

Before and after bushing replacement video:

Much less body on frame movement with the Energy Suspension bushings and a 99% reduction in the metal-on-metal front-end noise while traveling over speed humps/ bumps. At 1:45 into the video you'll hear a slight knock, that would be at the exact time I purposely rammed into and jumped a speed hump. Outside of that jump, I've had zero metal-on-metal noise from the Energy Suspension bushings.

2 hours and $50.00 to fix this problem that has plagued my truck since almost day 1.

    Hope this video helps!

Thanks for the details. This just started happening for.me with less than 800 miles on my 2021 Pro. They were replaced today. Let's see how long they last.

I replaced my bushings with energy suspension bushings and it did nothing. Still have this EXACT noise for going on 3 years now. Drives me nuts

I replaced mine with the 9.4 and still have my clunk. Wondering if I should try the 8.4 or move on to something else. Can't figure out this clunk.

I am having issues with my 2021 TRD off left road body mount bushing tearing. Dealer is replacing but they can not figure out what is causing it. This will be the third one. I had a custom 50 lbs DV8 bumper installed that added some weight but why would that cause the body mount bushing to tear? Any idea on how to solve the mystery?

Unless the bumper is hanging on the core support it shouldn't make a difference. I had both of my bushings replaced under warranty before I even mounted my winch. I used the core support bushings from the 2nd gen kit instead of having the dealer replace with the same bad parts, and it has been good. Beware that if you get the universal bushings they seem to require adjusting the hood height since they are taller than stock.

    Unfortunate update:
On 3.2.21 I replaced the front body mount bushings and was able to eliminate the dreaded metal-on-metal clunk in the front end. On the way to the gym this morning out of nowhere and without warning, the clunk is back.

Seems the new bushings had a lifespan of less than 6 months for me.

Oh well, other than the metal-on-metal clunk, the truck is solid and runs great.

So are people using the universal or the second Gen kit for the front bushing or is there a way to order the correct one?

I used the Universal. The 9.4101G. And I just dealt with the dreaded clunking. I thought it was related to my lift and after it started it did go away for awhile. Then it came back and drove me nuts so I was on a mission. Research here led me to these body mounts and the sway bar bushings. I changed both at the same time. Pretty easy to do with a floor jack and a piece of wood. Maybe an hour for everything. But I still had the clunk. Then after 2 friends who are mechanics looked at it and couldn't see anything, I decided to take it to Toyota in case it was something major. Turns out it was the damn sway bar bushings. For those who don't know. There are 2 different sized sway bars on these trucks. The Pro's and Sport's have a 30mm bar and the Offroad's have a 28mm bar. Once I put the proper size on my my truck that clunk went away.

I definitely had a sway bar clunk, but I no longer run the sway bar with my suspension set up I have now. The universal still clunks then?

Nope, my clunk is gone and I used the universals. But I also think my clunk was more related to the sway bar bushings.
