You two have very different taste in cars. My wife on the other hand keeps hints at making me lift her 4Runner.

My wife is small and not a great driver so she wants something easy to drive. She used to have a 2016 but I randazzled her out of it when I bought the Highlander and gave her the Kia.

The Subaru is honestly really nice, I wouldn’t mind driving it around every day. So easy to park

Close, similar price bracket, but 1 step up(ish), Tiny Camper Company.

This is the 5'x8' Kong with a couple options. We've been super happy with it.

Just got a quote for what they would give me for my Tacoma. Their offer was $10,600...I feel like that is kinda low. Although my truck does have some issues.

Edit: I guess that offer isn't actually terrible. Checked our local classifieds and 08s with similar mileage in visibly better condition are going for 11-12,500. So taking a thousand dollar hit for the paint on the roof and damage to the front bumper seems pretty fair.

That’s not too bad to be honest. Are you thinking of ditching it?

The thought has crossed my mind a lot lately. Just not sure I could make the finances work for another payment right now. In all honesty, I am probably better off fixing it to keep it running reliably and driving it til the wheels fall off. The only real problem is my family has outgrown it. Fitting three kids in car seats and booster seats in the back is becoming a real pita. I have to take the baby out of the car seat base to allow my 7 year old to even be able to buckle his seat belt, even with an extender installed. The faded paint on the roof and damage from when I got backed into bugs me. But isn't worth the expense to fix it

My wife sent me this the other day. So I know she wants to ditch her Tahoe too. Gas mileage under 15 mpg on both vehicles is killing us right now.

I couldn’t imagine trying to squeeze three kids in the back of a tacoma, that’s a tricky situation.

The trick is to stack them horizontally. Works great as long as they are under 48 inches tall.

Randy what spare parts do you carry on your hard off roading days? I’ve always got tools/winch/jack/hi lift. But I wonder about spare parts?

I do have a spare NAPA cv and outer tie rod.

But should I also have an inner tie rod? Ujoints? Built hub/bearing? Fluids (steering/grease grease gun?). I want to be mostly self sufficient.

I haven’t really broke anything yet. Though last time o went out I lost a caliper mounting bolt somehow :anonymous:

Fluids are a must, I carry a quart of ATF for the power steering, diff oil, engine oil and coolant. Parts, I don’t carry much extra anymore to be honest. I had a tie rod since it’s cheap and packs small, and also a CV, but that’s about it. I also am never super far from civilization so it hasn’t been an issue the three times I’ve had to get a ride to an auto parts store for the part I need.

Little bit of this and that
It's possible, but tight. I've got 2 boosters and a infant seat with base. If the 2 older ones were in regular car seats it wouldn't work as there just isn't enough room.

I have one in a booster, one in a forward facing, and one in a rear facing infant with base...

Mine did that too! Had the weirdest humming noise I couldn't figure out. Eventualyy found it was loose and tucked some foam in behind it. That stopped the noise until the car wash ripped it off. Luckily it didn't do a bunch of damage except to the remaining clips. I used silicone and was able to glue it back on. The noise hasn't come back and the grill has stayed on for almost a year so far.
